My RRS can be the Guinea pig if ya like, if it means getting the bits at a discounted price . Think there's def a market out there. Doesn't matter that the RRS isn't a performance motor people still like some bling. |

This is what angers me, people thinking that they can pass of CF as some sort of black art and try to charge unbelievable £££ for them. Here is an item I bought to market after working with A BMW bike forum, its approx 14"x12" and pretty complex as you can see. It's selling for £79.99.....

There could be some mileage in your offer, if there is enough interest from other drivers. |

Well then mate, there is your answer, produce the side vents for £200 a pair and you would sell loads, I cetainly would have had a set....I was temped at getting an interior trim set but not at a grand. It's a situation that's worked well with other projects. Like I said though there needs to be at least 2-3 sales of items jo justify me begining the production process. I love your enthusiasm guys but I can't do it for just you two and there seems to have been a really mixed reaction to my initial question!! |

Adam. Let me give you my insight on the subject. Carbon fiber has been around for a while now. Not so much these days, but i raced bikes for years at a resonably competetive level and let me tell you if the top riders could save some wieght by swapping bits for carbon then rather than an option it became an absolute must. As is with any kind of motorsport. At that level money is no object. THIS is where the ridiculous prices came from. Now i don't know how much it is to manufacture carbon bits, all i know is the place i used to get my carbon bits from would think nothing of buying a brand new bike when it was released for sale to totally f**k it up just to get the moulds....but hey they would make the money back ten fold. With the Range rover community carbon is far from a must. Its a luxury i guess, and yeah there's probably a mixed bag on here but remember the average age of a range rover owner (please no one take offence). Saying that there are many younger owners that are gonna go for the carbon, i'm in my late thirties and to me there's nothing better than a few choice bits of carbon splashed around the car, especially if the car is black. As someone has said, bonnets and tailgates would be a no no, but the small bits, door handle covers, side vents, front grills, bumper trims, boot trims, mirror covers, interior goodies. HELL YEAH!!! But!! I think it has to be affordable. There's not a lot of carbon goodies around for the RRS, i've been looking. So please don't wright this off. |

I totally understand your point, I'm heavily involved in the bike scene with this too and I completely understand the difference between CF for function and CF for form! My first idea was that the small items on the RRS could look really nice in CF and if you look at the price and pic I posted earlier you'll see I'm not trying to become a millionaire over night! I would estimate that I could market the Side Vents for between £180-£200 - that's if I can produce them in one piece, not one for £900 that looks like it's self assembly. There is a much bigger market in the 1000's of Saxo, Fiesta, Focus forums but I want my product to be associated with high profile applications - hence me speaking to you guys. In order to gauge interest and to allow people to remain anonymous I will post a poll, I'll detail the items I know and leave an 'Other' option for suggestions. I'll let it run for a couple of weeks, by the end I should have a realistic idea of the market. Last edited by adam1759 on Tue Jun 07 2011 11:55am. Edited 1 time in total |

I think the cost will always outway the end result, as nice as c/f is, its a personal thing, it looks good on the right motors/bikes, but when you come to sell your motor, its not going to make it anymore desirable, probably worse if you intend trading it in to a main dealer. However, if there is a market out there for the RRS, you've come to the right place. |

You're absolutely right, all modifying is a personal thing. I dont know many personalising touches that are worth as much when the vehicle's sold on, even if they were bought from a main dealer |
