yeah.. there is a considerable write up on bm3w.co.uk also the dealers have started to get quite a bit of info in, price wise and spec wise.. not too many pics though yet. Official order forms open June, for Sept delivery. Although they will take you're money if you want to place a deposit now.. (obviously!)

I was looking through the pics on BM3W too... it's a cross between the E46 coupe and the 6, I think. Doubtless will sell like hotcakes.

I'm not too sure.

From the side, it looks a liitle bit too long and low compared to current 3coupe. Not very muscular. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I like the rear 3/4 pic on the dtm link. Twin pipes also a good thing but how will it look in boggo spec with 16" wheels? Confused

I bet the Sport model & M3 will look the mutts tho' Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

As with the E46, exterior trim maketh the looks. Get the upper spec Sports with decent wheels, exhausts etc and it'll look a different ball game. The pics of that 335i look very nice... I like the way they've changed from parallel exhausts to the more M3 like split approach. Bet they sound good actually.

well the 335 petrol engine.. in fact its the normal 3000cc petrol engine, with not one but 2 turbos wacked on.. same kind of split as the 535d.. where by there is a small turbo charger from tickover then the usual larger one takes over the drag after about 2-3000 revs, meaning 0 turbo lag! i've never driven a twin turbo diesel, the jag one or the Bmw one, but i remember one guy on the Bm3w website described the 535d as a ballistic fu**ing road missile! so i take it he liked it..?

I was considering one of these when i was thinking what to buy before the RRS.. but the only thing that bothered me was residual after 4 years the 535d worth on paper only £14k and the RRS is more around the 18-20k mark.. and with a decent spec new 535d, you're pushing close to HSE RRS league, so it was a no brainer to me anyway.. so went with the pimp drug dealer look of the black RRS.. 5 series would make me feel middle aged as well, and make me look as if im driving my dads car or something..

I was going to be getting into a 535d Touring before finding the RRS but like you say Kam, the residuals didn't stack up so well. I've driven both saloon and Touring versions of it and it goes like stink. There's NO WAY you'd ever think it was a diesel. Doesn't even sound like one most of the time. Great performance.

hmm.. so it wasn't just me then who didn't like the look of the residuals..

it has the same paper values as my 330d sport used to have, that was a newer one facelift, and had the same residual of £14k but only cost me £26.5k in comparison to the near £40k for the 535d..? uh.. no don't think so.

535d is now more of a viable proposition now that its around the £32-34k mark, but they are going to facelift the 5 series in the next 12 months, so maybe not? cars seem to be changing at too quick a rate these days, but suppose the competition is soo hot now, they have to to stay ahead of the game.. u'd always be safe with lexus, they didn't touch the IS200 hardly throughout its life, one minor facelift towards the end.. shame its not as good as the rest of the competition though..
