Terrain response/Ride height settings - Whirring noise :?

Pulled up today at a park place after being in the snow/ice/gravel mode, before switching off i dropped the ride height to low so the missus (who is a mere 5 foot) could step out.

On start up, i selected normal suspension height and there was a continous whirring sound from the offside rear wheel arch (assumed it was the air suspension). It disappeared after about 2/3 minutes but was a bit disconcerting.

Any good reason why i cannot drop the ride height when the vehicle is parked and stationary whilst using anything but normal drive mode on the Terrain Response system ??

Thanks Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
