Left detachable tow bar on for alonbg time now cant get off!
Changing RRS for another RRS later this month so need to get it off.

One key alreday broken the second bent and ready to snap (they are useless!)

Any advise please ?

Take the key out, soak the barrel and all other moving parts in WD40 overnight then try again in the morning.. Failing that, take it to a dealer and get them to do it.. Might cost you 30 mins labour but it will be cheaper than buying a new one...

Hi

if you have close look at the green handle on the tow hitch you will see a number one, just above it there is a little pin.

Get your self a punch or a screw driver the same diameter as the pin then chap it through and out the other side this will allow the green part to pull off.

once done you should be able to turn the spindle underneath with a pair of pliers and remove your tow hitch

you might need some lubricating spray to free it off

see the green knob for the direction

Found the pin and knocked it through, but the green handle doesnt seem to want to come off.

should it pull off sideways or do you have to twist and then pull?

Yeah

It should pull off sideways you could try a couple of (different width) screw drivers either side if the green bit and lever it off as was said earlier a good scoot of some thing like WB40 up around the the orange ring give it half an hour(just enough time for a cuppy!) then give it another try

be gentle if you intend to keep the toe hitch If I remember you can cut the little pin off the end of the lock barrel and it will work perfectly well on your new car (remembering to store it in its cubby under the boot flap when not in use!
