Proper wash wax and polish.

Hi guys,

My question may be quite obvious to some, but it's better be safe than sorry. I love washing my car but I was never sure of how to wax and polish it properly.

Could anyone give a price of advice of how to wash and polish it properly (by hand), and how long does it last for on average.

I am aware of the fact that it needs to be washed, and clayed, hence another question. I live downtown so I wash it outside. I could give it a good run with a clay bar, but surely it will get covered by dust etc when I am finally done with claying the entire car. Will applying the polish result in swirls? etc etc etc...

Your advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks Vadim A.

Hi Vadim

Had a look on the site as per Leeds recommendation (thanks)

these guys and girls are a bit keen but they know there stuff

I think I going to try some Chemical Guys stuff

The swirls on my car are nightmare especially in sun light (a surprising amount of which we have had of late)

cheers Kiel

It's easy to get worried about the process but don't Smile

Can you not get the car under cover in a garage at a friends etc? You don't want to be doing anything in direct sunlight.

Snow foam, wash and clay will only take a good hour or so. If doing the polishing by hand get some Megs Scratch X and some NXT wax, put some elbow grease in to it and you will see wonders!

Hey fellas,
Thank you all for your messages.
Unfortunately I do not think anyone who has a garage... but direct sunlight is not a problem, every time I wash my car it is covered by the shadow from the tall buildings.. Smile
I will try some of the stuff recommended so far and also have a look at the detalingworld website.

Thanks a million times! Vadim A.

Vadim, come over to Ealing next time you're around and I'll give your RRS a quick polish, and show you everything you can do to clean it...snow foam, claying, rapid detailing, a good wax, polishing and billberry ing the wheels......

Nick Thumbs Up
