I am on facebook too but that is getting annoying too with people's constant attention seeking mindless dribble and also the ones that feel the need to air ever personal detail on a status update!

What also irritates the life out of me is why people have to report the weather outside onto their stauts - I HAVE WINDOWS FFS!!!!

Twitter is very good for news etc as it's breaking - watch for topics which are trending.

It's a very useful tool for some things but some people take the mick blabbing on it all the time, but it's easy to unfollow them! MY10 HSE 3.0 TDV6 : Santorini Black : Ebony Interior w/Anigre wood : Privacy Glass (total) : Sunroof : Sidesteps : Hybrid TV : Detachable Tow Kit : Spare Wheel Cover : 22" Dished Supersports

Trending is what's being talked about right now by lots of people.

If I look at what's trending right now Rupert Murdoch is coming up - this means lots of people are tweeting about him - it may be individuals tweeting how wrong he is etc. or it could be one breaking news story which mentions him which is being retweeted by loads of different people.

When news is breaking things will often trend.

Recently over here there was anther bomb. Twitter was able to supply real time information on it quicker than the news was able to report.

It's a great thng when utilised correctly MY10 HSE 3.0 TDV6 : Santorini Black : Ebony Interior w/Anigre wood : Privacy Glass (total) : Sunroof : Sidesteps : Hybrid TV : Detachable Tow Kit : Spare Wheel Cover : 22" Dished Supersports

So Big PImp, would you say Twitter would be suitable for an 11 year old foxcub.? I promised him id use it for a week and then draw my conclusion to whether he could have an account

Thanks Foxy ! Smile

Foxy,
I set it up purely for business just in case any potential clients searched Twitter for my details.
I don't find it of any use personnally really but I understand from a mate that the South Yorkshire Police live feeds are really useful for traffic alerts and whats happening crime wise in your local area.
Love the outfit but it looked a bit windy Rolling with laughter MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

I use it sparingly, I don't follow a great number of people as I find that I've got enough to read on the forums without having to read a load more stuff on Twitter.

It's very good, as big pimp said, for breaking news stories. When the Sun's web site was hacked and the "Murdoch dead" story put up, none of the news organisations were reporting anything to do with it. Twitter made it clear it was a fake straight away.

I've also used it to "engage" with big companies who you can never get through to via their customer services - Royal Mail, BT, mobile phone networks, etc etc are all on there and do actually help people who complain to them via Twitter as they don't want the poor PR!

Oh and I don't tweet every five minutes either, sporadically at best. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

I dont think theres a guide for numpties but getting the hang of it on the iphone today, it seems sterile enough for youngsters, Facebook can be a real toilet, full of the wrong sort of people and can cause a lot of hurt, especially the young and naive, i just use that for a laugh with mates dotted around the country i.e. people you assume havent got an appendage protruding from their forehead ! 08 2.7 RRS "S"
