I find on steep hills (very Steep) my S/C is rolling back when I release the foot break?? Is the normal I didn't think that automatics did this??? Cheers Laurence.

i assume the engine is running...the car isnt designed to stay stationary when facing up hill in drive with engine running..the car creeps forward due to drag from the torque converter...the car will move forward on the flat but uphill depends on the hill and how steep

My auto rolls back - but on steep hills I just leave the handbrake on when I drive off - no rolling back then.

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

I believe the MY2011 models have this special feature called "Hill Start Assist and Gradient Acceleration Control". This is what you want. Smile
Not too sure if the MY2010 models have them though.

Although other makes already had this feature sometime back (BMW etc.), our older RRS do not have them. Crying or Very sad
Too bad, Buster! Sad

PS. I have no idea how barry15555's post above is related here... Confused Malaysia Boleh!

My FL2 has it and so did my old one, had to be a very steep hill and prior to stopping you need to have the HDC switched on, only ever had it work on a LRE day and that hill was near vertical Thumbs Up

I thought HDC was there to provide greater control in off-road situations particularly when descending severe gradients, no? Surprised Malaysia Boleh!

HDC is for down hills, but it also needs to be switched on, on a FL2, to make the gradient release work

I know its crazy, but true, and the steepness of the slope you need to be on is also is a factor, so it wont work on your normal run of the mill underground supermarket exit slope

you mean having the handbrake on and driving away? with it still on? isn't it bad on the brakes? i would assume the correct way was controlling the brake and throtlle as you would do in a manual car with the clutch.
needless to say i have only driven manual cars until date. http://paulomartinsphotography.tumblr.com
