car washing stuff

My new car is arriving next week and its Santorini black so will need a lot more care than my present Stornoway one to keep clean.
Can anyone recomend a good on-line supplier and suggestions on what I will need i.e. which snow foam gun, shampoo, wheel wax etc? MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Elite Car Care - a great compnay, husband and wife team based in Maidenhead - 3 or 4 of us on here are really into detailing, and happy to offer any advice you need.

You may do well to register on Detaling World too - paint is very soft on the RRS, so you need to take that into account - remember you won't ever not have swirling, because as careful as you are, it can't be helped - but you can do lots to keep it to a minimum.

2 bucket method and a drying towel (and not a leather) are good ways forward. But you'd do well to get a first treatment in, just to protect it - don;t think you'll need a polish, but I would certainly recommend a wax - either Collys 476 or Dodo Supernatural. Meguiars do a good purple tyre gel, which lasts 2-3 weeks too....

Jonny don't you dare take your new car to one of those guys - get a company to come and do it once a week at your place - such people exist. Their leathers and wash mits go over your car without a rinse off, and you're asking for trouble....

Like your last post - you spend all that money, but happy to let some bloke swirl the crap out of your car.....bloody northerners... Laughing

Ive used Elite like NickM recommends and also http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk They are another very small outfit, good stock and great customer service. Every order comes with a handwritten 'thank you' from the owner on a compliment slip.

I generally use Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash, Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. The latter two being really easy to use on black paintwork. You can then slap a very thin layer of a hardwearing wax such as Collinite

Its generally the washing that produces the swrils in the paintwork. As you say a decent foam lance will help and only use microfibre wash mits and towels.

PS Its addictive!! FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy
Ex 2006 RRS SC - garbage
Ex 2016 135i M Sport - dream car
Ex 2003 RS6 Avant - piece of cr*p
Ex 2014 320d X Drive, M Sport Touring - ok I guess
Ex 2007 RRS TDV8 - bloody loved it
EX 2007 FL2 XS - not so bad

I use Elites own brand stuff, always really good......try it and if you don't get on the guys will exchange it for something else, they are pretty good that way.

Go for the Zaino cloths, pack of 3 for £20, amazing!! They call them luxury finishing cloths....great with a rapid detailer
