side steps

How easy is it to fit Land Rover side steps to a RRS
Or should it be left to the dealer to fit ??

I replaced mine which were rusty the other day.

I didnt replace the brackets but what looks to be involved is :

Open doors, remove full length plastic trim which has a screw in the rear wheel arch liner - possible some clips holding it on. I didnt have to do this.

This off allows you to place the three brackets into the subframe - 2 bolts up into the botoom of the car and some in the side.

Once these are on you place the running board onto of the L shaped brakets you have just fixed and fasten with 6 nuts and bolts and repeat.

I think that is it. The hardest bit is unknown to me and thats removing the plastic trim to fix the brackets initially..

If you stand on it, it breaks and you injure yourself or someone else does.....who do you blame/sue....

with things like this I would always go to dealer....

I find it strange that people buy £50K to £80K cars then scrimp on a few hundred quid to get a job done right....

Just my opinion but then again I'm not very 'hands on', I've never even checked my tyre pressure myself. Rolling Eyes

JF, i think that you may find that many people spend years scrimping and saving to be able to afford to buy a luxury car and do not have endless pots of money to throw at it when it is on the drive, this does not meen that they should be ridiculed by people who are in a better financial situation who appear to just hrow money at others to do things for them

My brother in law owns his own garage near bedford and milton keynes and we did my RRS about six months ago. It took about 2 and a half hours and that was with the car up on a ramp. They are not hard, just awkward and needs two people in places. My advice, pay a garage, just choose a LR specialist local to you so much cheaper labour rates
