TPMS sensor valves

If I buy a second set of rims, I wish to have TPMS as I have it on my first set.
Is this costly ? 2010 TDV6 3.0 HSE Santorini Black Tan Full Leather

O right just clicked when I saw it the second time Smile I would only get it if you are running low profile tyres on your RRS.

I don't. 22" are not certified in mainland Europe. Lot of trouble in case of… Rolling Eyes trouble.
I have TPMS on 20". Very useful : last time I swapped winter tyres, garage blew it and
the RRS told me instantly "wrong pressure in one tyre". Thumbs Up
When damaged, most of modern tyres deflate slowly. Hence TPMS is very useful as it
monitors slow punctures. 2010 TDV6 3.0 HSE Santorini Black Tan Full Leather

Well it's up to you do you think it's worth it? Could you not just check tyre pressure manually and save £££ in your case $$$ hehe

Hi there,
I have TPM installed and it is kind of useful... Once you start the engine, it tells you the settings like "TPM is set for light weight" or something like that. Also, it had some bugs with it, sometimes a warning message would pop up "TPM system fault"...for no reason, probably some loose contact on one of the tyres... not sure exactly. The message would stay on for variable periods/lengths travelled. The first time it appeared was during the 2nd day of ownership and as you might have guessed I was absolutely gutted! But it disappeared the next day... Sometimes it would stay on for 5-10-20-30 miles. But it has gone since i changed for winter tyres. I asked for the option when placing the order for the new car and the price I think... was around £300 or so. Vadim A.

I have TPMS on mine and on my second set of rims, I got the second set of TPMS valves here in Belgium from the main dealer, €35 each so €175 for the set of 5 and got them fitted when I put on the MT/R tyres on the 19" rims. They are type aproved for here in Belgium but there are diffrent frequencys for other countries.
Had one failure of a TPMS on one 20" rim after a big length of steel went through the tyre. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Is this TPMS a plug and play option on vehicles not fitted with it as standard? It's a very useful safety feature for peice of mind if you ask me.
I'd like to investigate fitting it to my 2008 RRS SC but would I be able to get the display working on the dash as per original fitment?

Thx.

Not sure if it's a RRS option, but LR have launched Trailair

It's a TPMS and rear view camera built into the rear view mirror

There is also a thread on disco3 about aftermarket TPMS, from memory it's a SA member Haine who started it, or gave a good answer about it

Edit: I think this is the thread

Interesting topic Nick but not really what I wanted to know.... thanks for posting it all the same.

If I purchased the TPMS valves from Land Rover what else would I have to do for them to work on my car? Is there an interface or something that feeds the relevant information to the dash board display etc?

Reason I ask..... we had an incident in Dubai this week where a family died in their car from a tire explosion. I was driving a Nissan Pathfinder a few weeks ago with this TPMS fitted and thought at the time how much I'd like that on my Range Rover too!

There is a module that interfaces with the information display on the dashboard that warns you if the tyres have low pressure and also a button is put on the centre console to allow you to select between high for on road and low pressure for off road
Button is the top left one.

You've answered all of my questions guys...thx!

I don't have that button on my vehicle so I fear it might be rather complex to add the TPMS to my car Sad

Bobby...do you know if this is a DIY job or should it be left to an expert familiar with the electrics of my car? Surly the plugs are already fitted to the loom?

Thx.
