I agree RRS auto lights don't come on soon enough especially when overcast, as for you experiment, go for it and share the results.

The senor for the auto lights is behind the interior mirror not on the dash. |

Was about to say that as that's where it is on the wife's golf, same place as the auto wipers sensor.

As above?? As the one on the dash is referred to by LR as the "daylight sensor" I have it on some systematics, exploded diagrams of a dash removal.

Two sensors on the screen. One for wipers and one for lights. I checked this the other day funny enough and covered both. One on dash seemed to do nothing and when covering the windscreen the lights came on |

So to continue with the theory. Possibly a small bit of vinyl or window tinting film covering the sensor should work?

the dome on the dash is the sunlight sensor for the airconditioning system. It lets the aircon know how much sunlight is entering the cabin so it can adjust the temp when on auto. the light sensor is behind the mirror. and yes it does come on too late. |
