Radio Cutting Out

Wondering whether any one can help, over the last few weeks my radio keeps cutting out or not working at all. Screen is fine and when switched to CD or AUX then sound comes out perfectly. However, its not crackling or hissing on radio just no sound at all. Tried FM and AM but to no avail. Was wondering whether its an ariel problem or if a loose connection between the rear quarter screen is common?

Any thoughts?

Pete

Pop the radio out and plug a different ariel into the back of it, this will confirm if the problem is in the head unit receiver or with the ariels and their amplifiers.

I had a similar problem a few years ago with an old BMW 5 series estate and after hours of diagnostic work and £200+ on new amplifiers I had to give up and get a replacement internal amplified ariel. I think that they problem was with the joint of the wire to the rear screen elements. Had recently had screen removed to have some bodywork done, radio worked before, but not after Censored The joint between wire and rear elements was the only thing I couldn't check properly at the time...
