How do you open the boot lid?

Really dumb question, how do you open the seperate lid on the back?

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

There is a secret button under the lip of the lid where the number plate lights are 2007 HSE in black with 22 inch id ones with privacy glass.

The boot is actually not opening for some reason, any idea??

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

How old is the car? It may be the dreaded corroded latch switch that some people have seen. If its that is a simple fix from ebay. Around £20 for the improved switch.
