Help - spare key dropped below rear seat!

Hi all

This morning I accidentally dropped the spare key through the gap where the seat belt clips in on the rear seat. Tried pulling the seatback forward to get my hand in behind it but no luck Sad

Is there any way of getting the plastic cover at the front of the seat off? Failing that, how easy is it to remove the seat completely?

Really annoyed with myself but at least it was the spare key and, failing all else, I can mention it at service time next week so hopefully they will retrieve it for me...

The whole rear seat comes up and forwards (for loading the boot up)

Can you not get access doing that? RRS gone

England

Slide your hand down the back of the seat and rub left/right.....you will feel a little loop of leather and tug it to lift the seat base forwards.

There is masses of room under the seat....hey look in my gallery you can see I even had a PS3 under my seat!

Thanks guys, I will try that tonight. When I was moving my hand in vain back and forth earlier on I couldn't feel any leather loop or similar but admittedly wasn't actually looking for it - no doubt the handbook may come in useful on this one Embarassed

Its in the back corner, you should see it when you open the doors. Don't look towards the centre, its at the very outer edge.

My tabs are located centrally to each outer seat (one on each side). They've probably just been pushed down between the leather iso-fix cover and the seat base. RRS gone

Thanks people, tried this last night but no luck Embarassed I'd already located the 'catch' at the top corner of the seat no problem. After reading on here about the loop of leather underneath the seat I released the catch, found the loop but no amount of tugging would move the seat fully forwards/collapsed so I can fully see underneath it?

Am I supposed to pull this loop upwards or forwards? At one stage I was balanced on the sidesteps and had both hands on the loop pulling at it (not easy anyway due to location) but it didn't budge at all; best I get is back of the seat forward so can get my hand underneath the seat but not reach too far or see a thing.

Probably me being dense (handbook description is awful too) but any tips would be appreciated....

hmmmm sounds like something's jammed.

It's a one finger pull release on the 2007 car, literally zero effort and the whole seat base hinges forwards after a click. RRS gone

Have you tried the other side?

I take it you're trying to hinge the seat base forward before releasing the seat back Whistle

I'll take some pics of mine to show how it all works if you want... RRS gone

England

You have to pull upward, the seat pads are hinged at the front so the rear has to come up and arcs toward the front seat.
The end position is the seat base in the vertical position which allows the rear seat back to fold flat into the space once occupied by the seat pad.

I have to say that I used to push the leather loops under the seat if I ever parked the car up at night with the PS3 installed, that way scallies would not be able to lift the seats unless they knew what they were doing.

Hope thi shelps

Thanks again all. Not tried the other side, did try pulling upwards but no movement at all.

Pictures would be very much appreciated, really don't want to lose the main key and be left cursing the fact the spare key is INSIDE the locked car Embarassed

2007 RRS so tab may be to side of seat as per Carlos's post

The tab pulls a release catch inside this square recess (sorry dark pic but recess is central to the seat base)
