Just brought another outdoor cover from covercraft.storm force. A 4 layer rain, dust proof etc. Has all the straps etc and are well made. And no i dont work for them Laughing Top tip. shark fin aerial, cut out a sponge and place over the aerial...this will stop it acting as a knife and making a hole in the cover. Hmm i wonder how i know how that happens Sad

There was a thread on this website a year ago or so about 4x4 covers. As far as I remember, people came to the conclusion that such covers can damage the paint and its best to avoid them? Can anyone confirm or otherwise please.

I was going to get one since I keep my car in a private garage most of the time, but that specific thread put me off... Vadim A.

I ve found that the cover itself will not damage the paintwork. You just need to be careful when putting it on because of the straps. I ve been using outdoor covers for the last 10 years and have had no problems. Buy a good cover though not a halfords jobby. Mine comes in at £180 and thats not the most expensive either. Hope this helps.

Had a series of outdoor covers on my Supacat for the last 5 years - and they have always rubbed on any tight angle wearing the paint away to a highly polished bare metal finish. I would never leave one on a car long term. Indoor covers would be a different matter.

My covers came from Specialised Car Covers, are high quality and are actually a bespoke fit with a guy coming to my house to cut a template like a savile row suit!
