i assume the engine is running...the car isnt designed to stay stationary when facing up hill in drive with engine running..the car creeps forward due to drag from the torque converter...the car will move forward on the flat but uphill depends on the hill and how steep |

My auto rolls back - but on steep hills I just leave the handbrake on when I drive off - no rolling back then.

I believe the MY2011 models have this special feature called "Hill Start Assist and Gradient Acceleration Control". This is what you want. |

The MY2010 got it but only works when a terrain response mode is selected... Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6 Gone: Range Rover Vogue '11 4.4TDV8, Range Rover Sport ‘59, Range Rover Sport ‘56 |

My FL2 has it and so did my old one, had to be a very steep hill and prior to stopping you need to have the HDC switched on, only ever had it work on a LRE day and that hill was near vertical ![]() |

I thought HDC was there to provide greater control in off-road situations particularly when descending severe gradients, no? ![]() 4.2SC Chawton White, Stormers Tasmod's Sills, Wind Deflectors, LR Sills Clear Side Repeaters, Towbar Larini Sports Exhaust, K&N Air Filter ______________________________ WINNER - 2008 'Tech-Head Of The Year' Award WINNER - 2009 Outstanding Contribution WINNER - 2009 'Tech-Head Of The Year' Award |

HDC is for down hills, but it also needs to be switched on, on a FL2, to make the gradient release work

you mean having the handbrake on and driving away? with it still on? isn't it bad on the brakes? i would assume the correct way was controlling the brake and throtlle as you would do in a manual car with the clutch. needless to say i have only driven manual cars until date. http://paulomartinsphotography.tumblr.com ![]() |
