Quick help re-scams

Hi,

I know in the uk people know all about scams from Nigeria etc, here in Italy it is just starting but I wanted to know more as a friend has just received an email looking very genuine (even scanned a copy of his passport!!) from an Austrian who lives in Africa who want his motorbike for his GF in France.

If I was the seller, I would put the email in my spam and thats that, the problem is in Italy people are not awair and he is thinking of risking going ahead.

The question is he is asking for the bank details to do the payment, what their angle if it is a scam??

Thanks

There is a tiny chance it might be genuine.....but in today's world it's not worth the risk.

The basic scam is to get your bank account details where they deposit the money. You look at your bank account and it states the money is in your account, you then send the goods thinking you have the cleared money only for a week later the bank contacts you and informs you that the money deposited was from a hacked bank account and remove the money from your account.

The result is that you end up with no money and the item for sale has been shipped to the fraudster. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
