United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HST Java Black
HSE or HST?

First of all, apologies, I'm a complete NOOB with RRS's, I come from a long line of sports cars but family is swaying me to bigger and comfier driving!

I'm looking to get out of my E92 M3 and in to a TDV8 RRS. Could someone explain which is best, HST or HSE? What options should I be looking for? What is the "ideal" spec? Should I be even going for the TDV8?

Thanks in advance for any info, and please be patient with me, we all have to start somewhere!

Cheers

Marcus

Gilford (Marcus)

TDV8 all the way in HST form but then I would say that.

No really if your looking for economy then it has to be TDV8, not too sure about the newer versions and there averages.

Basically it's horses for courses TDV8 owners will say it's the best and supercharged owners will say that it is the best.

Try to take both on a test drive and see which is to your liking.

Also the HST body kit is not to everyones liking. Thumbs Up TDV8 HST STORNOWAY ON A 58

Welcome Thumbs Up

HST is only different externally if I remember correctly i.e a bodykit

HSE is top spec from S then SE and obviously HSE being the best spec and actually the most popular

Extra's i went for but just my personal choise were sunroof, side steps, mud flaps, 22" overfinch supersport wheels, privacy glass and looking into getting my hse fully colour coded, oh and some colours sell better than others but i prefered black with black interior, good luck with your search, try one of our sponsors lookers park royal (LPR) They are a well trusted main dealer as alot of our members will confirm ask for james, he may be able to help you find what your looking for.

How much are the Tyres on 22's? I'm guessing more than on my 911!

Is there many options to be had interior wise?

I quite like the exhaust showing on the SC, is it possible to get this on a standard HSE?

The tyres are as much as you are willing to pay - Budget for around £120 up to Premium at around £195 + for Pirelli Scorpion.

You can purchase exhaust trims for around £130

The spec list on the HST in standard form ticks most of the options on a HSE that you have to pay extra for.

The HST will give you factory tinted glass, sunroof, premium Harmon kardon logic sound system, lined oak (black) interior wood trim. The body mouldings are already colour coded and you get better looking bumpers (ok in my opinion, some dont like the bumpers). You certainly get the best wheels (stormers) as standard on the HST!
And thats about it......you get an active rear dif but I have no idea what that is or does, all I can say is my car corners at speeds the laws of gravity say should not really be possible for a high up 2.5T motor.

Lets face it the HSE is a perfect motor and I love the look of them but dont fall into the trap of buying a car you spend forever modifying at great expence to end up looking like a HST if you want a HST!!!!!!

Hope this helps........oh I forgot to say......I love my HST even if i am toying with the idea of selling it....the best 2 years of motoring in my life so far!

For a TDV8 i averaged mid 20's around town maybe slightly less and around late 20's on a run, managed 33mpg on a run once.

Mine is chipped and I get 21-24 according to the computer when I drive in town on my way to work, lots of driving this time of year with the engine cold since its only 4.5 miles to work and only just warmed up before I get there and turn it off.
On a longer run I get 23-27 but I tend to drive a little too fast if I was honest with heavy acceleration.

The best I ever managed was an 80mile run to the coast changing up through the gears early (manually) and driving really steady below 65mph......that was 34.5mpg according to the camera.

However I did the same run in the middle of the night at stupid speeds and got the fuel average down to 15.5mpg Whistle

I have to say I have never calculated the actual consumption but I managed to put £100 in last week and am looking at only getting about 300miles from it!

Hope this helps

I was going to buy an HSE until I saw the HST, and I just knew if I bought the HSE I would eventually buy the HST body kit so it depends on what look you want to go for as the body kit does not come cheap, currently getting around 21mpg on my TDV8 thats mostly town driving Thumbs Up BLACK RRS HST 3.6 MY08
