I am thinking about replacing the sway bar bushings on my 2008 RRS S/C. It has the dynamic response system so the mounting configuration is bit difference but the procedure is more or less the same. On dynamic response system, for the front end at least, you'll need a couple of special tools in order to loosing and secure the sway bar bushing bolts. They are mounted horizontally on top of the lower chassis cross member and bolts come down from the top so there is very little access. Plus, one of the hydraulic lines passes over or near one of the bolts so you'll have to be careful not to damage it while trying to remove the them. I believe the part numbers for the special tools are 204-703 and 204-705. They look like big C-clamps and are designed such that you attach one end to the bolt and the other curves around the cross member where you can attach a torque wrench to it. Talking to others the bolts need to be set to a specific torque value, which I don't know off of the top of my head, in order to prevent excessive free play in the assembly which can result in the knocking noise we've all been suffering from. I've checked around and can't seem to find special tools except at the dealer so if someone has a set and is willing to loan them out let us know. |

I was quoted £110 all in to change the front ARB bushes by Ripon land Rover, haven't been to have it done yet though. I think its only the front knocking but will get them to check it all first. |
