No dip stick.

Is it possible to suck the engine oil out by sticking a thin hose down the fill point, using one of those vacuum pumps? One of those times when you wish you had a dip stick.

Why do I want to suck the oil out? To save having to go under the RRS and remove the plug to drain the oil for an oil change, not out of the dipstick holder. Question Question

It is the preferred method used by garages nowadays, and no it does not leave lots of bits and sludge behind compared to draining via the sump plug. The dipstick access has a route into the sump obviously, so i wondered if access to the sump was provided via the filler hole to the sump.

I thought all modern RRS's enable the driver to check the oil level from the drivers seat. Rolling with laughter

You aren't missing anything not having a dipstick - the 2.7TDv6's dip stick was the most useless thing I have ever encountered - the 2007 TDV8's was a bit better. I put it down to the engine being of French (it's a Ford PSA joint design) origin - the 2010 TDv8 in my FFRR has a dip stick and it's the same useless article I had in the 2.7TDv6 RRS! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
