Introducing myself with a technical problem... | |
Hi All,
Sorry to make my first post here a cry for help, but any advice would be really welcome. I have a May 2010 RRS TDV8, 13,000 miles on it, and love it to bits. There is however a niggling problem; after decelerating for a while (imagine slowing down when approaching a traffic queue) and then going back onto partial throttle (maybe 1200RPM at say 20 miles an hour) I get a stuttering hesitation, kind of like we're only running on 7 cylinders. It's not really bad, but definitely noticeable (passengers think you're in the process of stalling, but it's an auto!) and if you floor it the problem goes away, however, this may be because if you floor it, the revs rise (and the gearbox may kick down), thus taking it out of the "problem" range. Similarly if you click it down a gear on the Command Shift the problem goes away too.
My thoughts are that either the gearbox isn't changing down readily enough as the speed drops, hence leaving it in too high a gear to pull away when you get back on the power (I think I'm in 4th when the problem is most noticeble - should it be expected to pull away cleanly from say 20mph / 1200 rpm in 4th?). Alternatively, does it sound more like a fuelling or EGR Valve problem?
I should mention that the dealers have "had a quick look and can't find a problem" (which I think means they checked the fault codes and found nothing logged) however, it is shortly to go in for its 15,000 Service and I thought if I could go in with a bit of background knowledge I might be able to direct them more fruitfully!
So, as I said, sorry to start with a question, but Hello to everyone and thanks in anticipation!
