Car following me yesterday..

Went to pick up my mate from my house last night, that he has been doing some work on, and was in my RRS.. its all cleaned up right now, so looks the biz and is attracting a lot more looks then it generally tends to do when its covered in crap..

Driving through solihull, near to the front gate area of LR factory, and some dick in a turquoise coloured Kia or something is tailgating me, being in mid conversation with someone on the phone, i pull in and let him by, but he pulls in behind me.

I carry on through the town centre, and he is literally so close to my back bumper that i can't even see his bonnet and can just see the top of his head and his face.. some stupid tit about 25, carcasian male on his own. Has some football banner hanging up in his back window and the car is on what looks like a 53 plate if i remember right.

After about 3 miles of this, (kept getting stopped at red lights).. i think right.. eat my torque, and i blast it off, and even when going into excessive speeds, he is in the distance clearly following me.

I then slow right down and go to pull into a road on the right and wait for his indicator to come on, and then cancel and boot it off, and he does the same. So now I DEFINITELY KNOW he is following me. Don't think he realised there were two of us in the car, and don't know what he was trying to achieve. I didn't cut him up, didn't do anything to him, and he clearly wasn't following me to appreciate my car or anything, he was clearly being a dick.

We pull onto the A34 where i need to pull over and swap my RRS in for the van, and he is still there.. so i tell my mate at this stage that are you ready for this, cuz i think this guy has some problem. He looks round and agrees he is tailgaiting me excessively.. so i stomp on the brakes, and my mate gets out.. and he boots it off around me giving us the V's...

Really miffed me.. would have chased after him, but thought its not worth the aggro, he clearly shat himself when a gruff looking geezer covered in crap got out of the passenger seat, but what was he trying to achieve.. if i had of blocked the road, what would he have done? what was his problem in the first place.. he literally came out of nowhere and started following me.. didn't see him again after that and he was long gone.. but wat a dickh*ad.. really got my blood going..one of my mates dads back in the early 90's rammed some kevs in his 500SEL in a car park after they threw some abuse at his wife.. and this was going through my mind..
hmm 2.5 tonne RRS (reversing battering ram).. 1 tonne kia .. ... Twisted Evil

Wat a wa*ker.. not had this before at such an obvious level and hopefully never have it again.. but makes me wonder whether a baseball bat in the boot is necessary with so many dicks on the road.
Forgot to post about this earlier, but im still mad about it, and it makes me feel so much cooler typing it out!!

Kam, without wanting to generalise............what a f*****g wa**er!?!

Either jealous, racist or a jealous racist s**t.

Unfortunately you do get them and I suppose more so when we have desirable cars.

I still get people turning their heads where ever we go in ours(Funnily enough, usually when Mrs S is with me!?!?)

Sign of the times when you have to watch where you are and who's following you.

Look on the bright side, when you get your Skod....Volksw....Sea....Audi A4, you'll just look like a rep in an A4 Laughing Wink Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

This is pretty weird, Kam and a bit worrying Confused

Did you get the guy's number plate in the end? Might be worth making a mental note of it for future... I suppose he was just bored scrote with nothing better to do than harass people on the road in nicer cars than himself. I was driving back home the other day and witnessed some really dreadful driving (in a single lane of traffic, a Censored pulled out from behind me raced up past a couple of us on the wrong side of the road and then jammed himself back into the traffic before a traffic island - again a pointless knobend in a supermini) and it got me thinking that having some rotary guns on the front of the car a la Blue Thunder would be quite handy sometimes....

Makes you wonder if he was on the phone to a mate who helps him jack cars....worrying.

Once in a while when I feel I have been followed on my way home I deliberately don't go near my house and head off in another direction until I lose the person in question.

There are some dodgy B'stards around that's for sure. Evil or Very Mad

Good Idea RRUK will get one today.

Kam as everyone says just jealous W******, there about everywhere. You must be care you never know, always try for the number plate. As you say don't worry to much even if you are blocked in the Rangie will knock most things out of the way.

Just a quick tip if you can see the vehicles rear tyres you have enough room to turn and get out of the way quickly when you pull up behind them at the lights, tell the girls.

Misery, that is probably the most valid and important comment I've seen on here...the girls.

If something was to happen to me, fair enough you'd probably just dust yourself down, curse profusely and get on with it.

For all the laughing and joking, if something happened to our better halves, I know I for one would........ Evil or Very Mad Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Yeah i did my IAM test a few years ago and my instructor who was an ex police trainer told me the same advice.. always make sure you don't block yourself in with the car in front, always be able to see the tires of car in front. Not such an issue with the range rover, as someone rightly aid above, you could ram most things out of the way, or climb most embankments/kebs easily.. but in other cars you may not be so lucky.

Most common car jacking technique in london is to be rammed from behind and when you get out, you are jumped from behind from the guys who were in the car in front. Its worthwhile to always keep you're eyes on the mirrors and take mental notes of cars following you, especially at night.

RRUK i have had to do this a number of times as well, circle the block.
My IAM instructor always said, if you think something is dodgy, just drive off from the scene, and head straight for the local police station, or ask the driver behind to follow you to the nearest police station, through a small gap in window. if they are legit, they should have no quarms about doing so.
