So what do you do for a 19" Off Road touring tyre?

Not yet bought but wanting a 3.0 TD V6 2011 which if I understand right comes with min 19" Rims. I do a fair bit of outback touring in my old Jeep 2001 Limited which originally had 17" Goodyear f1's, thourghouly useless off road if not dangerous on even loose gravel. I now have Goodyear ATRs and are a great on road off road comprimise but don't go to 19". How does the stock RRS rubber go offroad? My only real concern in purchasing.

Any thoughts answers would be appreciated.
Thumbs Up

Sege

In 19's, go for the Pirelli ATR in the Discovery size 255/55/19. Very good all round tyre, have them on mine and I'm sure they're available in Oz. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

I see we can get 305/50R20 General Tires AT2 (Sic) here. Would these fit with the extra width and profile or would they rub??

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

The 3.0 TDv6 as standard comes with 19 inch footwear... Interested in looking for a set myself, i have gone for the v spoke 19 inch offroad alloy as the wheel choice, but for some reason it came fitted with standard Goodyear F1 eagles, pure road footwear Laughing

I had Goodyear Wrangler HP all weathers on my MY06, used to go most places with out any problem, but definitely not for the long outback journeys or what i would say is serious bush bashing in the hidden depths of the Cape etc

I suspect that they would rub, just on the basis that you need to get special snow-chains for the 19" 255/55/19 so that the chains don't rub the suspension on the inner side. This was advice that I had from the stealers when I tried to get the UK approved chains. I asked them to double check the appropriateness of use on the OZ fitted tires and was told "no" - as the OZ cars shipped with a wider profile tire to start with.

I managed to pick up the Pirelli Scorpions in 255/55/19 a few weeks back from Bob Janes in Fyshwick, so they seem to be readily available. Just a white TDV8 with a few extras

Australia 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 SE Santorini Black

You can purchase 18" rims (from me) for the 3.0 ltr and then fit Cooper ATR 265/60R18's - they are my daily drive tyre.

In the 19", the only AT available in Oz is the Pirelli ATR, and they're pretty thin on the ground at the moment!

if you are contemplating any REAL offroad touring then a set of dedicated rims and tyres would be the best option. I have for sale a set of 6 / 19" V-spoke RR rims fitted with Goodyear 255.55.19 MTR's all with 10-12mm of tread remaining. These were used for offroad excursions when my regular daily drive Pirelli ATR's were deemed insufficient, although for general purposes the ATR's are an excellent tyre.

I have just got a quote for 5 PD1880 from Compo Automotives but need to verify first whether they'll really fit my MY10 TDV8 3.6. Compomotives say they'll fit to all RRSs as long they have got no Brembos. Can you confirm that the 2010 3.0V6 has the same size front and rear disks as a 2010 TDV8 3.6? I couldn't find any info on the net. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

if you PM "disco4x4au" who is a regular on this forum, he can give you a definitive answer regarding the correct PD1880 profile from Compomotive which he was directly responsible for bringing to production. My understanding is that the new RRS profile PD1880 will fit the MY'10 and MY'11 big brakes, but he can categorically confirm this. In AUS spec the 3ltr and 3.6ltr td's both have the same larger brakes.

hope this assists............cheers...............frank R. my10D4se3Ltdv6 current
