Cancel Extended Warranty

Hi

I bought my Land Rover Extended Warranty 2 months ago on the monthly installment plan.

I haven't claimed off the warranty but I'm part exchanging my car and I want to cancel it as I don't fancy paying warranty on a car I don't own anymore.

Anyone know whether it's possible to cancel?

thanks Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

cheers

I called them direct and they said I just needed to cancel the direct debit and to send them a letter to confirm I no longer own the car. They said there is not much they could do if I'm paying monthly, might be different if I paid in full or I had claimed.

They said officially you're only entitled to a full refund if you cancel within 14 days of taking the policy out. This doesn't apply if you've claimed off the policy within that period.

T&C's are a bit wooly around monthly repayments. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

Warrenty - should be OK (make a fuss - tell em who's boss)

You certainly should be.

But be certain you are selling and put the matter in writing by letter - even handwritten and fax direct to dealership.

- Say that you are selling the vehicle. This is your right so the Warrenty needs to be cancelled on the day of sale or before by you.

And not after the sale.

Follow up by fone call, the same day and don't take any crap or nonsense.
- Dealerships make a few bob don't forget.

Thanks, I bought the warranty direct from Land Rover rather than through the dealership. I wrote to them on the day I sold the car confirming that I wished to cancel the warranty as I no longer owned the vehicle. I also cancelled my direct debit. Haven't heard from them yet. Gone: RRS : HSE : TDv6 : 57 : Java Black : Ebony : 20"

They won't generally pursue you for this.
Most insurance products should have cancellation policy within the T&C's?
If you are paying monthly, if you defaulted on the payments, they would just cease the insurance cover.
So if you have written to them and not heard anything back, take it as done.
