Different Ride Heights?

Apologies, I don't have the handbook close to me but last night whilst I was parked up waiting I flicked the rocker switch to the left of the rotary dial near the cubby box to the rear position and the cars height dropped. I stepped outside and the gap between wheel and arch was much smaller than usual. However, when I started driving after a few seconds I got a warning along the lines of "Slow down or car will reduce height"?

I stopped again and pressed the rocker switch back to the front position; it didn't feel like anything happened but the message dissapeared and when I parked up next I noticed the gap between the wheels and arches was pretty huge again.

Is the option I picked a normal driving one or "access" mode"? And if so should I switch it to access mode whenever I park up?
