Gents,

thought i would follow up on the other topic post about a meet up sometime in the near future

Wifey and I have nearly finished our six months sentence in the Whitsundays, what a hell hole Laughing Wink
and will be back on deck in Sydney in January,

Wondering whether Ivery, Working Dog, 640, 2nd, JimmySalsa, possibly BK for the social bit (not the offroad) and any other members would like to maybe have a long weekend away somewhere with the vehicles and the better halfs.

Thought giving it 3 months to organise may make it easier for people to plan..

Feel free to make other suggestions... clean ones Whistle Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

February will certainly work better for me as we always seem to have company regional conferences in late Jan/early Feb, and it is always difficult to get out of them.. Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Australia

We are in subject to which weekend it ends up being. Our eldest starts high school next year and will be heading off to a selective school without any mates so will be a bit of settling in to do in the first month.

Late Feb will be our best chance.

Don't really mind where as long as there is some good off-roading involved and some equally robust vino. Cool 'Black Betty' Java Black RRS 07 TDV6

It looks like we are all set on Melbourne Wine Region then, so i would ask the Melbournians to maybe narrow down where we could all stay and we can work out an itinerary between drinking and driving ... or do i mean driving and then drinking Whistle Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

IIRC my last look at the Rutherglen area pretty much confirmed no real 4wd driving of any note. So really just on road driving between wineries.

The RRCV do an annual trip to Dargo, which has some really good, and depending on the route you choose, can be quite technical off road trips. Loads to choose from. I'm just not sure if there are wineries or similar in the Dargo area. The RRCV run it as camp trip but I believe there would be guest houses and the like there... :

http://rangeroverclub.org.au/node/1059

As a thought, if people wanted to tag along on the RRCV trip and use that as the meet I can enquire....

or there is the Yarra Valley for the wineries and you could probably do some good off roading in the Murrindindi State Forrest on the back of this.

The base could be the Yarra Valley or maybe better the Black Spur Inn which is owned by a stalwart of the RRCV who is a 4wd expert.

This could be a better option, but I'm no expert on the areas mentioned in either of my posts.

2nd can we leave it up to you locals on that last post, might be definitely a better option in terms of Yarra and/or the Inn, a day or so of off road and maybe a day or so of Wine Tasting Thumbs Up hope we can get BK out to join us.. Thumbs Up we can have another curry night with the broader membership

Thanks Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Gents, haven't been on here for ages - life and work still getting in the way of fun stuff, but anyways...
The thing is I am actually 'in the wine business' and work with some of the very top Yarra Valley producers. I can very happily organize tastings at some of these ( Mount Mary as an example) and furthermore if we wanted to use The Black Spur Inn at Narbethong as an accommodation base for the meet-up we could then drive some easy tracks in the area, for those who were prepared to dirty their car. I actually have a weekender at Buxton nearby, we could perhaps incorporate that as well. February is good for me too. I see that others have recommended the Black Spur as well. Could be great.
