United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Nara Bronze
2.7 or 3.6

Hi,

We are looking to buy a £30k ish 2007/2008 HSE RRS for now and in approx 6 months buy a 2nd one, either brand new 3.0 HSE or one thats 12 months old (but with new 2010 facelift etc).

I have driven RRS with 2.7 V6, 3.0 V6 and 3.6 V8 (I think the 3.0 V6 is the best for me).

However for us to buy a £30k ish 2007/2008 HSE RRS should I choose a 2.7 V6 or 3.6 V8 - I am thinking of the overall experience (not just performance/MPG) i.e. reliability etc.

Paul

So is the 2.7 TDV6 as reliable/unreliable as the 3.6 TDV8 ?

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Some Tdv8's wear out front suspension bushes very quickly, others are not affected by the problem. Some tdv6 2.7's with optional DR also suffer from the problem, but far few than tdv8's. If you test drive the TDV8 take it on a rough or cobbled road and listen for the rattle, front bushes will be worn out if it rattles. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'll second that - V8 is superb drive. Go for it.

I was interested in the overall experience.

i.e. if there was a 45 litre W16 engine you would all recommend that to drive over the V8 Smile

However, I just wondered if the 2.7TDV6 for example was cheaper to service, more reliable, less issues etc. or vice versa.

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

I'm not really an expert but I do have a couple of toys in the garage with over 750hp between them that mean I wasn't really looking for outright power in my Range Rover.

I got a MY57 2.7 TDV6 and was paralysed with fear about the front suspension knocking issue having only discovered this forum after placing a deposit.

However, the car has not suffered from this problem, and is just a fine place to be.

I have managed to average 33mpg in it so far after about 2000 miles I suppose, which is staggering. I thought I'd be taking LR's figures with a pinch of salt but on the motorway I reckon its probably doing 35mpg?

I've got two trips to the Alps in it at the start of the new year snowboarding and it'll be interesting to see what we get out of it on the autoroute 4-up...

I imagine it could do with a little more torque when loaded but I'll get it remapped by DMS or somebody in due course if I find it struggles in the mountains...

I bought it with a service plan so the costs to me is fixed for 2 years.

So no complaints with the baby of the range from me... 00 Audi B5 S4 MRC550'ed
