Spain
Hello to all.....I am new so forgive me! Few questions also.

Well it’s been a long time coming, have got shot of the cayenne s and am looking for RR SC or RR HSE TDV6-8.
Will be buying in euros (spain) and dont want to spend more than 40,000, plenty around from 2006, so thats my best bet at the moment.

I am lost however, I have spent days going through hundreds of posts in this forum (by the way great posts people) to try and find as many answers to all my questions, but as I got so sidetracked from posts such as offroading and tuning I never really wrote down all your opinions on the facts I truly was looking for. So for that reason can some of you please be so generous with your time and experience and answer just a few of these questions??

I am living down here in the south of spain so am very unfamiliar with the dealers etc.....

So,
1. I do lots of driving, never worried about consumption with cayenne s but RR SC, what in your honest experience will I be getting from that, both city and rural....oh and those who have done offroading, what are the returns while doing that?? (Obviously you dont buy SC if you worry about mpgs but more than money aspect, it’s the stopping to fill up!!!)

2. What major things should I look for to insure the car has not been hammered off road……?

3. Are there any reoccurring faults common in 2006 models, please be honest so I can look out for them, suspension seems to be a regular pointer that comes up,

4. The SC is loosing value fast here so it’s a great deal at the moment, is it worth the extra power though, is the v6 so good really or is it just its a more common engine out there? In all honesty, what would you all recommend, SC V6 or V8??

5. Has anybody done much offroading in their SC? If so how do you manage your wheels?

6. If anybody living in spain is reading please tell me, how can I see how many previous owners have had the car, I cant see the method by looking at the reg book…..
Live in Marbella, any recommendations on dealers

Well again, thank you to any of you that manage to find time to give me some advice, if you have any suggestions let me know your thoughts!

Keep up the amazing job on this forum guys!!
Thumbs Up

United Arab Emirates 2008 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Alaska White

Welcome.
I recently purchased my first RRS SC and at first was asking the same questions. In the end I went for a late 2008 Supercharged car with full service history from new and extended warranty.
If running costs and filling up charges are a priority for you then a petrol engine is not the ideal choice and you should go for one of the deisel variants which in all fairness don't have the same driving pleasure as the SC cars.
I get around 450km to the full tank driving around Dubai which is about the same as I get from my 1998 4.6Efi Land Rover Discovery. If I use the loud pedal alittle more often then this drops to less than 350km to the tank.
Fuel is reletivly cheap here compared to Europe and I have a company card for petrol which helps.

Look through the service history. Hopefully it will have been mainatined by the Land Rover dealer right upto present. Dictate the VIN number to any LR dealer and they will be able to tell you whats been done on the car from new.
Suspension bushes are common replacements and I was told that the parking brake motor is also prone to failure...mines all okay but I'm only saying what I'd heard. Looking through the service history of my car at the dealer I was very happy to see that it's had nothing done to it other than regular servicing from day one.

I don't offroad mine yet but probably will later when the warranty expires. Untill then I use my very well prepped Discovery for the sandy deserts and mountains here.
IMHO the tires would need replacing and I would also fit the extended drop links to enable fitment of meatier rubber.
I'd also trim the front and rear valance to get better approach and departure angles, remove the spare from underneath etc

Good luck with your choice.

Regards.

S.

Thanks for your reply Streaky, will take note for what you passed on, I had to go away for a few weeks so put off buying till now.

Unfortunatly here we are surrounded by the worst of the worst dealers and the descent dealers keep their prices well over the odds, SCs are not selling due to the consumption, that does not worry me finacialy as such, what worries me is stoppig every 2 hours on long drives (which i do very often) to fill up............you can not beat the sound of a hefty V8, its not quite comparable to a diesel........so the SCs have got my heart, but the diesal has my mind, unfortunatly as I said before, diesels are not so easy to find here with out being 1 ripped off or 2 sold a dodgy engine! Will just have to keep on looking and waiting for correct one to come up!

Oh well, again thank you for your post, atleast out of 174 views I got one post!!!
I imagine people are too tired of writing the same answers............

Hope all is still going well with your SC.........

Regards

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Galway Green

Sorry you only got one reply - heres one more! I'm not surprised you like the sound etc of the SC but the 3.6 V8 Diesel (from 2007 onwards) sounds almost as good & will return 25-28mpg. Try one. Let us know what you think Smile
