2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
Garage Door Openers

Hi all,

I'm collecting my new RRS SC in a few days. Dumping the Mecedes CLK after a "winter of discontent" on the snow in the Peak District in a car which becomes nothing more than a snowboard in any inclement weather ...... do you think the RRS will do the trick? Overkill? Any excuse for getting a RRS ? So I love the look and test drive of the car and look forward to joining you guys shortly !

A friend of mine in the USA has a US version RRS HSE (bought for the same number of dollars as i paid pounds !!!!!!). The RRS in the US comes with three buttons for the remote opening of garage doors.

Does anyone know how to program these buttons for any specific model of Garage door openers that they have ?

Thanks,

Glenn RRS SC Java Ebony

The RRS will be more than capable in snow but it all depends on the driver, well worth taking a course on how to drive a 4x4. If you get a lot of snow might also be wise to get an extra set of feet. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I second that VA, especially if your RRS comes with Continental M&S tyres which are hopeless in the snow.
Homelink isn't available in the UK, it's a US specific accessory 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I live in the Sierra's where we get plenty of snow and ice on the roads. I researched all the SUV's on the market and the RRS won, hands down. I did however, insist that the dealer change the OE tires with Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow.

It's a very capable vehicle despite some minor problems. Said another way, I would and will do it again.

As for the garage door opener, the directions are in the owners manual and if you have problems you can either go line or call Homelink at their 800 number.

My advice, DO IT... Very Happy

Why won't Land Rover offer the same HomeLink garage opener in Europe? I understand transmission frequencies are different between NA and ROW, nevertheless these integrated openers have become quite ubiquitous on cars sold in the US, even cheap econoboxes often include those threee buttons as an option. It sure beats having ugly black boxes clipped to the sun visor...

Oh well, that's what you get for having folding rearview mirrors over there... We can't get those here. Smile

I have a big double garage - electric horman door - BUT the damn garage is alway stuffed with clutter ! So i'd never get to use the homelink anyway Big Cry

Might be useful for opening gates at the entrance to your driveway though Confused

I don't think so, Envoy. That's what I find puzzling, since the technology is already out there and these things are cheap to integrate.

Would this be an easy after market fit or do the frequencies make it useless? How much for the unit? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
