Warranty Wise has a good reputation but i still cancelled a warranty i had with them on my M3 after reading their T&C's.

I would advise anyone to study the T&C's before committing to any warranty.

Hmmm, interesting, especially as my D3 is today sitting on LPR's forecourt with a suspected transfer box problem (a day under 5 yrs old and 36,600 miles) Big Cry I'm hoping the LR extended warranty is going to deal with this one for me. My Dad's gearbox went earlier this year on his FFRR 2003. He had an extended warranty through Warranty Direct.
They organised for his car to go to the Local LR Dealer to be checked out and when the dealer said that all that could be done was a replacement gearbox Warranty Direct disagreed and had the car shipped to their gearbox repair specialist (North West England, I think) the box was stripped repaired and returned in perfect working order! Apart from the length of time the whole process took (approx 2months) my Dad feels that he had great service from warranty direct. WD had also stated that had the dealer agreed to repair the box rather than simply replace it then they'd have happily let them do so. They just couldn't justify the cost of replacement Vs Repair. seems fair enough to me. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I had a similar issue with my Mercedes SL prior to purchasing the RRS.

I took out their most comprehensive cover then a few days later my instrument cluster died. Mercedes said it was a failure and contacted WD with cost etc. I didn't hear anything for a few days so called them, the WD guy said that they were rejecting the claim because the policy was "a new one" and they offered me a refund of my payment then immediately cancelled my policy.

The cost of the repair would have been £2,400 whereas the refund £600. They obviously thought it better for their business to cancel rather than pay out.

I complained and their complaints team called me and said they were wrong to reject & cancel and offered to reinstate the policy but wanted to add a new wear and tear exclusion even though the original one expired by this time.

Needless to say i didn't bother and the SL was fine except for the cluster which i think was battery related anyway.

WD have since offered me a luxury cover warranty on the RRS S/C but i havent taken it, im 50 / 50 given that its a good idea to have one and i cant have a LR one.

I just know in my mind they will get out where they can.

Carl

Can anyone recommend a good warranty company if such a thing exists.

How does Warranty Direct compare in cost to a Landrover warranty?

I think KAM100 is the best person to speak to http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic15970.html

I spoke to Kam and his price was competitive but didn't cover wear and tear or main dealer rates. If i recall a lot of items you would expect with a RRS such as seat switches, sat nav etc etc aren't covered anyway.

I didn't think it was the right cover for a RRS.

I may be wrong. Im looking for a warranty and didnt feel confident with Kam or WD so haven't bought either.

When i had the Mercedes the WD cost was £600 as oppose to £1660 for the MB one. That said the MB one gets rave reviews.

Take into account that these warranties from WD etc repay you the cost if the claim is accepted, you have to pay first so need to have the ability to pay for the repair upfront. A bit pointless perhaps ??

Always read the T&C's.
Our policy does what it says, and is priced accordingly and the T&C's are clearly stated and available from the outset.

Warranties are just insurance policies, they will definitely try and get out of anything.
However provided you follow the instructions completely for the claim and the item is listed as 'included' then you shouldn't have any problems. Plus we are here to help you through the claim process as required.

Most mechanical items will be covered, and i think the transfer box should definitely be ok to claim on..

Cheers guys
Thumbs Up

Hi Kam

When we spoke via email a month or so ago i seem to recall exclusions and that id have to pay then be reimbursed, is this the case ?.

When i say exclusions i refer to electrical items such as heated seats, sat nav / hi fi etc

Does your warranty cover full wear and tear including bushes, ball joints, roll bars etc ?. Know weak points with RRS.

The price was better than WD but i thought their cover more comprehensive, are your prices fixed ?

Thanks

Carl

Hi,

No our claim line pays direct to the fitter/repairer on invoice.
No it doesn't cover full wear and tear, no warranty will.
Fixed, no. We throw in free roadside if taken over 2 years, if you don't want this, we can provide a discount instead. Depending on your needs, we sell other products too, and finance cars, so if you did do multiple purchases from us, we would always look at a bundle deal of course. Thumbs Up
