There are lots of ancient Land Rovers out on Tiree - there is no need to MOT cars that once on the island will never return to the mainland, although they do have to be taxed. Also spotted while out there was another L322 FFRR, but it was an 07 Plate S/C which with petrol at £3.90 a litre must be a bit pricey to run if it is a permanent resident. I managed to average only 20mpg even in the TDV8 with a max speed on the single track roads of 35-40 mph and the car never getting above 4th gear or getting fully warmed up on a trip - I did a lot of miles on the mountain bike instead (when the wind had eased up enough to cycle that is!!). Also a TDv8 RRS, lots of Seies Land Rovers gently rotting in fields, a few Disco1's and 2's also slowly rotting but still being driven and a lot of Freelander1's with not a sign of rust on them despite the very salty air out on a small island.

Either the fuel prices have doubled since May, or they saw you coming Tim. Oban Times stated petrol was costing £1.31 to £1.53 per litre, still the locals have to take full advantage of rich visitors I suppose.

Lol, I didn't need to top up fortunately, used about half a tank in a week on the island, IIRC the locals get red diesel if they don't take their cars off the island so they are paying about 30p a litre! I was told that the reason the price of petrol on the islands is so high is because to get a road tanker full out there requires a special sailing of the ferry - passengers cannot be carried on the same sailing as a road tanker full of of petrol. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
