We have it on the news here day in day out and how that the top catholic in the country is trying to cover it up (Cardinal Daniels) it seams to be through root and branch. My partner is Catholic, she was discussing last night on how to un-baptise herself and renounce the catholic faith as she does not want to be part of an organisation that supports paedophilia, it is a growing trend here of people leaving the faith with a big increase in people distancing themselves from the "holy roman empire". On the news this morning they were talking about 16 young people commiting suicide because of what happened to them and the fact that because it was the church no one would belive them. The latest scandal is about the Bishop of Brugge and that he has confessed to the crime, but all he has to do is retire to a convent/monastry and pray for forgiveness to attone of his sins. I'm not an expert in what has been happening with the RC church and the going ons of some of their priests but I really doubt that they support paedophilia as Alicatt states. The actions of the church to resolve this matter may not be to everyones approval but I'm sure they think it's the best way of dealing with it and mistakes happen so they may well have dealt with it wrongly. I seem to remember The Pope has apologised to victims about the actions of some of his priests but done so to the victims personally - now yes there seem to be a large number of victims but surely a personal apology is far better than the media apology that seems to be the call.

What is done is done but it remains revolting. Some of the perpetrators have not received adequate punishment and have been dealt with apparently leniently. The fact that those who should have been in a position of trust violated that trust so blatantly while pretending to be close to "God" is heinous.

While I don't think that it is the RC church in it's self that supports paedos, it is seen here that those that are in charge of the RC church in this country are giving the impression that it is and that is bad. This country is RC through and through and it is shaking the trust that people had in the church here.

The way it has been dealt with behind closed doors, with little seeing to be done has been what has annoyed me.

He didn't exactly apologise, but he did say it was a crime rather than a sin that at least is a step in the right direction. It still seems tho if you are a "man of the cloth" then you are above the laws of the land. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh Clan Cameron |
