Impossible - LR said that is was "water knock" and that you cant feck with the laws of physics. Shocked

(unless it's = Take RRS to LR garage and PX for a quiet RR Vogue)

Sorry rant over Whistle

As it says - noise generation is inherent in the system - looks as if the intention is to add mass to change the resonant frequency of the cabin to stop it amplifying the noise. It will be interesting to see how effective that is with vehicles with components of varying degrees of wear.

Full marks to Land Rover for still addressing the problem even though many feel it should never have been marketed like this in the first place.

I still had some suspension knock noise despite having already had new lower front ball joints, a new anti roll bar actuator and mounting bushes, drop links, and the front body dampers removed.

Having had this latest TSB implimented a week ago, so far, there is a very significant improvement to the extent that it would now be difficult to identify a problem. I would highly recommend it as it is so simple to have done or to do yourself if you are that way inclined. It may look a simple modification but it must have taken a lot of effort to arrive at.

PS Maybe this thread should now be put in the main sticky thread on suspension knock

Just had this New TSB installed on my RRSport its called a mass damper kit.

Seems to have made a difference.

I have all the other bits done like ball joints, suspension struts, bushes etc.

And this mass damper kit seems to have improved it a lot more than the other bits did.

Guy Salmon Knutsford Rock, they did it for me.

Reference is Land Rover Technical Service Bulletin "Front Suspension Knock Improvement" - LTB00241 (1) issued 29 October 2009.

See Bobby's post above for the link to read/print all the details.

Highly recommended Very Happy

Hi All

Bob, thanks for the info on this, i joined the forum to look for info on this problem! i've had the masses fitted to my RRS and its like night and day! - after battling to ignore the knocking for a months i'm now struggling to hear it at all! Very Happy

Reading the threads i guess my experience with this issue is much better than most - one trip to the dealers and a 30 min wait whilst they were fitted. Although its worth saying that the dealer did caution me that the effectiveness of it does vary from car to car, tolerances etc i guess, but it should always make an improvement.

By the way the date on the procedure my dealer used was No.LTB00241 29 October 2009, dont now if its different to the one you stated?

Many Thanks

Thanks Charlie, you are quite right the TSB issue date was 29 October. Embarassed I don't know why I put July but I have corrected it now.
