Side Vent help?

My step dad has bought some aftermarket chrome side vents for his HSE, unfortunately the blanking plate on the passenger side does not fit on to replacement vent.

Although happy with the appearance of the vent without the insert, he has some concerns about whether this would affect the vehicle in any way.

I've tried searching google and this forum but seem unable to find an answer.

Can anyone here offer any advice?

Thank you in advance

The nearside/passenger side vent is a dummy one, the offside/driver's side is the one the engine breaths through so you won't harm the engine with a damaged vent on the passenger side, just don't go deep water wading or you will get water in between the wing and the engine bay! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
