Parrot kit installation with harmon kardon sound, possible?

Hi there, new to the forum and also to my rr sport.

I'm so frustrated so turning to you guys for some assistance.

I have a 55 plate 06 RR sport HSE with the Harmon kardon sound system. I recently purchased a Parrot MKi9200 for it and decided to install it last night, managed to get the stereo out only to find that I would be needing some other leads to get it installed.

Started ringing around this morning and have spoken to several installers. They are all telling me different things. Two of them have said it's pretty much not possible to install that kit along side the HK system and that I should have opted for a 3100 parrot instead.

A couple of other installers have told me i need abnout three seperate harnesses and those two installers told me different things on where I would have to connect them. One said under the passenger seat and the other chap said I need to connect up in the boot.

I am totally confused, these guys are professional installers, they should know what they are on about.

I have tried to contact parrot to see if they can clear this up but I wondered if anyone on here has this setup installed in their rr and how they achieved it?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site Smile

You might also get some good answers over on the sister site DISCO3 - www.disco3.co.uk

Do a search over there for "+harmon +parrot" (without the quotes) and there are a few threads with information about what you're trying to do Smile Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

I have the 3200 but that needed the extra harness that plugged into the back of the radio unit, my fitter had to order it as it wasn't a straight forward fix. I will rake out his name and post back?

Please, at least I can try to speak to them about the 9200.

I'm looking there too but there's no definitive guide for the 9200. Plenty of info on 3100's but thats not the one I need, they are completely different.

There is some info on a 9100 but again, that looks completely different

Thanks, I'll probably call them now as im desperate to get this sorted, we'll see if i get a completely different answer from these guys as everyone I call tells me something different. I'm just not willing to spend > £40 on additional leads until I can get a definitive answer from someone.

Nobody called graham there but the chap I spoke to was most helpful. Said the only issue *might* be that music would come through front speakers only but he said to phone him if that happens and he'll talk me through sorting it. Not bad from a company who will make no money out of helping me.

Thanks very much Smile

I got this sorted (kinda) in the end.

I ordered a complete set of cables from Ken @ http://www.drivesaferdirect.co.uk

I bought what they call an igni-box which takes the constant live going to the stereo and senses noise on the circuit to detect when the ignition is on, it then provides a switched live. I think that might be causing me some problems though. Every now and again, when I start the RRS and let it idle I can see the revs quickly jumping and settling again. Perhaps by as much as 300rpm. It will continue to do this until I switch off the engine and start it again.

It doesnt do it very often but is a sure sign that something is not right, is this likely to be an issue with the igni-box causing problems with the can-bus? Im guessing it's this as on two occasions now the parrot has powered off whilst I've been driving but theres no set pattern to it, just random. I guess I'll try ditching it and taking a switched feed from the cigar lighter unless anyone here has some suggestions?

Other than that it works like a charm, was fairly easy to install, the worst part was having to push 3 flyleads into the 12 pin connector that goes to the amp but even that was fairly easy as long as you take your time and make sure you put the right flyleads in the right slots (I messed this up and spent an age trying to get the lead back out again). You also need to disconnect the aux input in the back of the RR but that was no biggie for me, I'll never use it anyway.

Music off the SD/USB/Ipod sounds fantastic Mr. Green
