Car hesitates at 5000 rpm - misfire

I have a problem with my RRS 4.2 S/C. If i drive the car hard, footing it full, the car will only rev to 5k rpm or sometimes 4.5k rpm and then misfire. I then have to change gear. Im sure it was not like this when i first purchased it. It does this in auto mode as well as manual (commandshift mode). I have placed the car on the diagnostic machine and it has come up with no faults

Someone I know had something similar and it was dirty fuel related according the the dealer. I don't know if you have had your car from new so I don't know how careful a previous owner (if any) may have been. Anyway in his case some fuel system cleaning and (can't remember exactly)a filter change fixed it. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

i'v been reading around and apparantely the problem is pretty common on the 4,2 s/c. There is a TSB on these vehicles with regards to the supercharger coolant pump (Part no PEP500010). When the cars were manufactured, the electric water pump has to connections (positve and negative). The wires were installed the wrong way, causing the pump to operate incorrectly. Now the tsb states the wires have to be swapped around and the pump has to be changed. Are TSB's recalls? Are they covered by the dealer even if warranty has expired? I have checked my vehicle and the wires are the wrong way round. (fault code P2601 comes when eventually)

A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin and they are supposed to keep the dealership techies up-to-date with all the latest faults and how to fix them........................ except it appears that while many service managers know about them the man on the shop floor often doesn't and often members on here know more about them than the service managers! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
