4x4 World Record Attempt

Ladies and Gentlemen, hopefully the following may interest you...

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™
“4x4 WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT WEEKEND” ®
Towcester Racecourse, Northamptonshire
8th – 9th April 2006
(weekend before Easter)

Want to be a world record holder?

Then help us create the Longest 4x4 Procession whilst establishing 20+ world records for all 4x4’s (Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Jeep, Toyota, Land Rover, Isuzu, Ford, Nissan, Honda, Daihatsu, Vauxhall, Kia, Mazda, Subaru, etc.) + break the existing Land Rover world record!

The greatest 4x4 challenge of 2006 … and it will be held ‘on the road’!

Having successfully established an inaugural world record of 260 vehicles in April 2004 for the “Longest Land Rover Procession”, ever since owners of many other marques of 4x4 have expressed a desire to establish a record featuring their favourite vehicle. This being the case, it has been decided the time is now right to attempt a world record for every make of 4x4 ever produced!

Entitled 1st GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ “4x4 WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT WEEKEND” ® the event will be held at Towcester Racecourse, Northamptonshire 8th – 9th April 2006.

Under this umbrella title we will attempt to set 20 or more world records spanning the following vehicles:-

BMW X3 & X5 DAIHATSU Fourtrak, Terios, Sportrak etc. CHEVROLET/DAEWOO Korando, Musso etc. FORD Maverick, Explorer, Bronco, Ranger etc. HONDA HR-V, CR-V etc. HYUNDAI Santa Fe, Terracan, Tucson etc. ISUZU Trooper, Rodeo etc. JEEP Willys, Wrangler, Cherokee, CJ/YJ etc. KIA Sportage, Sorento etc. LADA Niva, LAND ROVER Series I / II / III, Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, Freelander etc (as we have already established a record in this category, an attempt will be made to break our own world record) LEXUS RX 300/400h, etc. MAZDA Tribute, B-Series pick-ups etc. MERCEDES-BENZ G-Wagen, M-Class etc. MITSUBISHI Shogun, Pajero, L200, Pajero, Delica, Pinin etc. NISSAN Patrol, Terrano, Navara, X-Trail, Challenger, Murano, Pathfinder etc. PORSCHE Cayenne SANTANA PS-10, Anibal etc. SSANGYONG Rexton etc. SUBARU Forester, Legacy etc. SUZUKI Vitara, LJ/SJ, Jimny, Samurai, X-90 etc. TOYOTA Hi-Lux, Land Cruiser, Rav 4, Surf, Amazon etc. VAUXHALL/OPEL Frontera, Montery etc. VOLVO XC90 VW Touareg + any other 4x4 makes & models not listed.

It should be noted that to achieve a record each procession must be a minimum of two miles in length. Individually, each of the 20+ world record attempts will read “Longest Jeep Procession” or “Longest Mitsubishi 4x4 Procession” or whatever the equivalent marque happens to be. All makes of 4x4 SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) are welcome i.e. Ibex, Dakar, UMM, etc. only please be aware that because of the ‘two-mile rule’, less popular marques (in terms of numbers sold in the UK) may struggle to achieve a record. Collectively however it is hoped that if Guinness World Records ™ agree, and there is no reason they shouldn’t, every owner can join in the fun by setting an additional record for the “Longest 4x4 Procession” featuring every 4x4 present on the day. Now that would be a memorable sight!

POINTS TO REMEMBER:
These world record attempts are for 4x4 SUV’s only - not four-wheel-drive cars. All 4x4 SUV’s are therefore eligible for the record attempt providing -

a) the vehicle has a minimum ground clearance of 183 mm [this obviously rules out four-wheel-drive cars]
(b) vehicle gross weight does not exceed 3,850 kg
(c) while generally 4x4 vehicles are standard fare, 6x6 derivatives are permitted i.e. Land Rover 6x6, Pinzgauer 6x6, etc.
(d) only road legal vehicles are permissible
(e) vehicles must be capable of travelling under their own power, so unfortunately any vehicle that drops out of the convoy at the time of adjudication will be excluded
(f) drawn trailers of any kind are not permitted, the exception being 5th wheel vehicles
(g) all vehicles must retain their original silhouette as they left the factory - basically your vehicle must still look like a Suzuki or a Land Rover even after extensive body modifications. This said, there will be a special category for buggies/ hybrids/conversions not recognisable as any one particular marque. Regardless of body shape, engine type or mechanical modifications, providing the vehicle has an identification VIN plate to prove its origins, it will be eligible to enter.
(h) each participant must display their national flag, plus sign-written vehicles, additional spotlights, bunting, teddies, pink hippos, Pooh Bears, monkeys and fancy dress optional but encouraged! Charity fund-raising/sponsorship for individual crews also welcomed.

If unsure about any of these rules and regulations ask beforehand as the decision of the Clerk of the Course is final.

Entry fee @ £20 per vehicle which includes Day Admission for the driver and up to 4 passengers, Event Decal and the all-important Certificate of Participation. For those who don’t want to enter the procession but simply spectate, Day Admission is £5 per adult, children under 16 yrs are free. Camping is also possible Fri-Sun at £8 per night.
Booking Form is available by request from 4x4trading@talk21.com. Further info: 01406 493144 ~ 07958 216266

I will be there all weekend, hopefully some of you can make it too and we can meet up, it promises to be one of the more unusual 4x4 events of the year if nothing else Very Happy

Si
