Electrical Drain on Battery Fault...

Some of you may know I took delivery of a Lotus Elise in April...It's meant my Rangey has been somewhat ignored on sunny days - and this week has been particularly bad as she's starting to sulk. Was going to take her out today and she wouldn't start. Got Land rovery recovery out and the battery had gone flat - I did 300 miles last Fri and the battery was knackered by today already. Anyway - the tests showed there is an electrical 'drain' on the battery - they have taken out the fuse for the active suspension for now and I'll have to put it back in before I drop her off at the dealers on Monday.
Anyone else had these electrical problems? It's giving me a bad feeling - I know how complicated electrical faults can be to diagnose and sort...
As always, your comments and inputted appreciated.

Think their was an issue with the front wiring harness rubbing against chasis.

It really does not take much to drain the battery on these, had radio on only, no key in ignition, about 31/2 hrs other day, flat battery. Third time now when using radio but this time I know definatley with out ign on or key in.

Luckliy have dual battery setup, so can jump myself with 1 lead

If the battery is dead flat give it a charge as a flat battery will never fully recharge from alternator alone.

Hi, had the same probs with mine, I only use it once a week (and I am talking about my sport)took it to the stealers was told battery drain.Had battery fully recharged didn't use it for about 9 days battery flat again. i put a new battery on a Bosch silver with4 yr guarantee of internet company I thing it was carbatteries .com for £100 stealers wanter £130.00 and only 12months warranty. I also fitted a c-tec xs3600 battery charcher/conditioner of fleebay £48 new.I have the lead that comes with charger hard wired to battery which has a capped plug on it so just leave it in battery compartment, when not using the car I just plug it into the charger and it moniters and tops up battery as needed. i can leave mine for weeks now and its fine.Hope this helps Thumbs Up

Bought this kit from Oz Land

http://www.traxide.com.au/D3.html

fitted Optima blue top in spare battery compartment and wired it in. Usually yellow top optima used but the blue top is the same with 2 extra terminnals on top for other power sources to come off if needed and was a cheaper option at the time

Instructions very very good and easy to follow and was dleivered within a week

Hi, I had the exact same problem, searched for 3 weeks pulling fuses with no joy. I would suggest that you check the upper tailgate switch as mine was completely corroded and was sending a permanent live to the battery and draining it in 3 days. Just pull the rubber off the switch and you will know if it is corroded as it will just crumble away. Hope this helps. Thumbs Up

Australia 2005 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Tangiers Orange

Had the same problem when I first got my RRS, turned out to be the blown bulb in the front centre rooflight, the wiring was shorting out and leaving a constant drain on the battery. 2 days was enough to leave it almost flat.

Oh and I sat eating a sarnie in the sunshine a couple of weeks back with the radio on. 30 minutes later I had to call the AA out to start it, the battery was as flat as a fart Rolling Eyes That twin battery setup looks great though, think one of those is going to be winging its way to me in SWMBO's luggage when she visits Melbourne in a few weeks Very Happy Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE.
