I would! Thumbs Up

You'd need to ask them, however it is a reasonable request, so I can't see that they could object. Just depends on the space they have and the timescales etc. AA manage Land Rover's Roadside Assistance, therefore I would imagine that they would be ok with them being on their premises. Their choice is for you to have it inspected after registration which would be a risk from their perspective if you were to refuse to take the car.

Very well.

Now all depends on how soon AA can do that for me. I am booked in for collection on Wednesday, and was supposed to pay for the car on Monday. If AA can arrange an inspection on Monday that would be great.

May I say thank you to all for posting their replies! Thumbs Up Vadim A.

As mentioned earlier - what will the AA inspection give you really, they'll have caveats in their contract with you for if something was overlooked,

warranty will cover mechanical and any failures,

check it is exactly what was ordered,

spend LOTS of time on the body work and paint work,

thoroughly check wheel rims visually and by hand, rub your thumb around the alloy if you need to to highlight marks or faults

If really fussy check all bulbs and lamps - the 'consumables' that may not be covered once out the door - i think someone even posted on here that a 'faulty' lamp had no bulb in Shocked Laughing

when i picked up my second one from new there was a badly fit internal trim and a paint fault that wasn't spotted on my inspection as it only showed in bright sunlight, inspect outdoors and not indoors...

Dealer addressed both ASAA......

Enjoy and post pics Thumbs Up

I've had a number of new cars and the only issues I've had are:

-Lexus. Fuel gauge didn't work properly and was only spotted after I first filled up. There was also a nut loose in the headlining which could be heard when going around corners. Both were resolved very quickly.
-The Alfa Spider. When I picked it up the paint down one side felt very rough. You wouldn't have seen it visually but I was careful to run my hand over the whole body. It was apparently over spray from another car repaired at the port. The finish on one of the alloy wheels was very poor, the drivers seat was loose and one of the washer jets was completely missing . As this is under the bonnet I didn't notice until I went to use them. All issues were resolved very quickly by the dealer including a brand new alloy fitted.

I wouldn't dream of feeling the need to get the AA to inspect a brand new car. As I mentioned in my experience any dealer will resolve any issues you do hit without delay or problem. I really don't see what the AA will add. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Two years ago, I went to pick up a new Mini Cabriolet for my wife, turned up at the dealer for collection and on inspection of the driver's front door - a dent and paint missing from where someone had hit the door into something!! The saleman tried to fob me off, with the fact that he didn't notice it, but he can get the car door resprayed!! I rejected the car to which he replied that he would never sell me another car as long as he lived!!

Picked up the same spec car in a dealer 50miles away and had it serviced there since!

Dealers (apart from James at LPR according to this forum) are out for themselves not the customer - very sad!! CURRENT: 3.0TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey, Privacy Glass, Rear DVDs, Extended Leather

I had an AA inspection carried out on a used car I was buying - my first ever in fact some 20+ years ago. The examiner failed to spot a couple of minor things, like the fact that the engine in the 1.8 car was actually a 2.0 litre engine from a completely different car that ceased production about 5 years earlier, and the fact that some of the main wiring under the bonnet was done with household wiring 3-core flex. In fact the AA gave me a clean bill of health for a car that spent more time off the road than on, and even burst into flames in a petrol station due to the inappropriately mounted air filters that the examiner had also failed to notice filled with petrol if the engine flooded.

Sadly quite true - however my view is the cash isn't faulty nor should be the goods - if we all accept perfection isn't possible suppliers drop standards and it all sprials downwards...

Striving for perfection is often painful but has to be done
