MY 10 for sale

Hi Folks

I have decided to put my March 2010 car up for Sale. It is a TDV8 Sport, finished in Santorini Black, with ivory leather with ebony stitching. Privacy glass, the top hi-fi (is it logic 7?) heated sears and steering wheel , piano black, removable towbar (never used) 20'' supercharged alloys TV, and rubber mats including the boot. I paid approximately £65000 for ir it. It is what, 10 weeks old? I have covered 6000 miles in it, I know, its quite a lot but I just can't get on with it, I have been offered £53000 in PX any takers for £54000?

Call me on 07970825698 or email johnschwarz@rk-int.com

A lot of car for the money. I beleive there is a 4 month waiting list for these now?

Oh, it also has a Tracker fitted

Best Regards to you all.

John

It's a very non masuline colour right now.....

But each to their own.....you can slag off Java and Sant until the day is long - the fact that it looks so good, albeit common, you will admit that when you come to p/ex - if selling privately, you will have less people looking at your car then if you went for Black, White or Silver.....it's true, and all the additional threads and Censored taking won't save you from losing a few quid from your pocket when it comes to resale......

I'll have a pack of tissues ready......

I actually think that works both ways - sell a "special" colour and you won't have as many potential buyers, but for any potential buyers who specifically want that special colour, they won't have as much choice so they'll more likely view yours. I think.

In other words:

1,000 people want a black RRS and there's 100 for sale, that's 10 potential buyers per car.
Only 10 people want a purple RRS but there's only 1 for sale, so still 10 buyers/car.

I will perhaps revise my theory when my orange Freelander 2 goes on the market in the next week or so... Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+

The logic is flawed in that you are making an assumption that people will want a Bali Blue at some point in the future......thats like saying there is someone looking for a Versuvious at any one time - there is unlikely to be, you just have to live in hope that there is, and by the time you have put it up for sale and found a buyer, you will have been knocked down out of desparation as you will be worried that only 1 person in a month has been to see it.....

I would also like to see a dealer go on the record and say that 'certain' colours are given less money than others, and that a Bali blue one would be 'one' of those. And if a dealer doesn't, they are just scared of upsetting a client that may have purchased one from them.

To summarise, if you have a Java/Sant, Storn Grey, White or Silver (perhaps) - well done.....if any kid of blue, green or beige, enjoy the car, just don;t expect to see someone offer you as much when p/ex. And if you have too much money to care either way if you lose £££, then my apologies.....

I'm done

Yep, agree you might have a longer wait, but the flip side of that is that you might even get more money from someone set on a purple car. It's the old supply and demand thing.

I know when I sold my purple MGF the buyer travelled nearly 300 miles and paid me more than the going price for it. I know that's only one example though.

I guess my logic is based on the assumption that the demand for a second-hand colour will be the same as the demand for the same colour from new. Is it fair to assume that if 1% of new car buyers want to buy a purple car then 1% of second hand buyers will want to do the same? Why would the colour demands of the second hand market be different from the new market? This wouldn't apply to a truly unique colour like pink, but I think all of the LR colours are going to sell in reasonable volumes over time, even brown! I think the only real difference in the RRS case is that sometimes buyers have accepted purple (sorry, Bali Blue) cars in order to avoid a waiting list when it's not been their first choice.

I know fashions come and go and demand for a particular colour now might be different in 2-3 years time when you come to selling a car, but if you take that into account, the silver bubble may well soon burst as it's become just sooooo common over the last few years (I don't just mean RRSs), so perhaps silver might suddenly become unfashionable and lose value? After all, go back a few years and the only people who drove black cars were the Queen and undertakers! Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+

Don't get me wrong, I look at some Porsche Caymans in yellow and orange and think wow, they look so cool, and even in red, suits it really well - but I know I wouldn't have a Censored in hells chance of selling it on easily. Black is an established colour now for at least the last 10 years and will always do well, as will white

Truth be known if I was changing up now, it would be white as a first choice, then black and then grey.....ok ok, and if I was buying a Lambo it would have to be either orange or green...
