Newbie - Buying Advice for used RRS 2005-2006 HSE

Guys,

I have been reading the website and was looking to get some advice & guidance from existing owners.
I am looking to Purchase a RRS have around £25k to spend. Early research is looking like I may get a TDV6 HSE.....Is this realistic and is anyone selling?

ALSO

Are there any well known faults or recalls I should be aware of? I plan to take out a after market warranty however still a little concerned about reliability issues...... what are peoples experiences of this model / year?

I have seen a number of posting regarding knocking? Is this only relevant to 2007> cars with Dynamic Response?
I have also seen a number of postings regarding EGR Faults aswell???
Anything else I should be aware of or look out for?

Just trying to avoid as many major ££££ bills as poss.

Thanks in advance

I have a 2005 HSE bought only at the weekend. I agreed with the dealer to drive for two weeks and then have any faults fixed at my local LR dealership.

My list so far is as follows (items to be aware of)

1) Front suspension knocking. - No Dynamic response on mine so can happen to earlier cars - New packer system and ball joints needed
2) Cruise control intermittant - My car has not had LR fix for this so will need a new clock spring
3) Rear suspension out of level - Caused by weak compressor - New one needed
4) Rear upper tailgate does not open - New switch needed
5) Driver seat moves 2mm on hard braking or acceleration - This can be adjusted to rectify.

As you can see and probably tell, all of the above are common faults and a warranty should pick them all up. Just get one straight away. I had a Disco 3 before this and had the EGR replaced under warranty and the Electronic park brake rectified 4 times. I am guessing the RRS has the same issues.

These cars are not perfect so dont buy if you think its going to be. However, the disco gave me 70k miles of pleasure and am sure the RRS will do the same

Good luck.
PS I paid 22k for a 2005 RRS in red with 49k miles on the clock. HSE spec

England 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 S Buckingham Blue

Hi

I have been a RRS owner for about 2 months and love the car, makes me feel good every time I drive it. I am fortunate as my car is just 2 years old and still under warranty. Following something that happened last week I would try to purchase a vehicle with an extended LR warranty if possible.

I was waiting whilst my car was being serviced at a very good LR independent garage when a customer came in to collect her Freelander, she had to pay a bill in excess of £1200 for a new turbo, I commented and said I bet you wish you had a warranty! She said that they pay £1200 per annum for an aftermarket warranty but they had refused to pay for the turbo because it was "sooted up", she said they were going to contest this but did not know if they were going to be successful. I am sure there are good and bad aftermarket warranty schemes available and perhaps some of the guys on here can reccomend a good one from experience. The last thing you need is uncertainty about who is paying the bill if it has to go in for repair whilst under a warranty sheme.

Jim

As already said by pcregeen. Knocking suspension can be without Dynamic Response. Mine doesnt have it as its an 06MY and only has 20k on the clock but just had ball joints replaced.
