Avoid direct line, great until you need to make a claim, they're customer services is a joke, land rover insurance appears to be competitive.

NFU...Although not the cheapest it certainly is very comprehensive in its cover and in the evemt of an accident great to deal with....I suppose its only when you have a problem that you appreciate how good or bad an insurance company is and whether paying that little bit extra is actually justified

I was with Direct Line (and still am), and I imagined what you said would be the case until my car got wrecked in the floods 3 years ago, and to my surprise the service I got from DL was really, really good. Admittedly some of that was down to the independent assessor they appointed, but still part of the package. My only real gripe at the time was it took a while to sort out, but to be fair I think all insurance companies were struggling at this time due to the severe flooding.

I'm sure there are still plenty of DL horror stories though, just not in my case. Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+

Direct Line, Privilege, Churchill, Tescos Ins, Mini Insurance to name a few are all under the same umbrella, or at least they was when i worked there, owned by Royal Bank of Scotland, who own UKI underwriters

Think every company will have horror stories, as everyone is happy till they make a claim, and then your Censored off anyway and things don't happen as you think they should

I use a broker in the Highlands and he was only 10 quid dearer than the cheapest on the comparison websites. Given that the cheapest on the comparison jobs was also hiking the excess to £500 from the £200 I have with the brokers. Had 1 claim with them when a guy ran up the arse of my Mitsubishi on the M6 8 years ago and they had it dealt with and repaired in 6 weeks from the accident. To me that service is worth the extra tenner!! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Agree with you on that and I always shop around but usually end staying put as the difference has never been more then 20 quid at the worst. I've just renewed it at 400 quid for the X5. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Thats a good price, i have just had my renewel from Churchill and it was £650 Shocked , thought that was a bit steep, my X5 was about £500 and i paid about £70 to just swop from the X5 to RRS for remaining term. Ihave 9 years plus NCB.
