First Range Rover...some help/tip

Hi all

I am new here and hope some can help me out.
I am seeking a new car and I like a SUV now. It will be used on long trips, with lots of gear( fishing, hunting, golf and so), so I need the cargo room.

A Range Rover is my dream, and a sport is just cool. But, some say the quality is just so so...some say it is ok, some sy STAY AWAY!!!!

I do not know, but here in Switzerland, I do se lots, LOTS, of the Sport and the classic Range Rover, maybe more than the X5 and the ML/Q7, so it cant be THAT bad. Just my idea.

I am seeking a 2007-2009 model.
So, how is the quality? How is it to maintain? Service?
What to go for, diesel or petrol?

Yes, the dielsel will keep the fuell bills down, a bit, but how is the dielsel engine?

What to look out for, if there is anything.
All help/tip is good, I need it.

Thanks for looking all Thanks all

I ran a Sept06 RRS 2.7TDV6 for three trouble free years, averaged about 23mpg but mostly town driving, any good runs had the white carbunkle on the back, towing did not seem to damage mpg too much. Had it chipped and loved the performance, go for it, if you dont like it you can always take it back Laughing purple people eater

dino_dino,

There are a few Swiss members on the DISCO3 site. Some also have experience of the RRS and FFRR. Why don't you register on DISCO3 and contact them? I have driven with some of them and they are very nice people.

Switzerland 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

Ciao Dino, benvenuto nel forum.
I have the RRS since 3 years, initially the TDV6 and now the TDV8.
The 6 diesel is maybe a bit underpowered for the weight of the car, a bit sleepy, the 8 diesel is a great engine, all around gives me an average of 12.2 l/100 km
I haven't got any problem with them. '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

Thanks for the reply.
How about the petrol V8? That is what I have in mind. But, V8 diesel is a good engine to.

Good to hear you have no problems. What model you got? New? Thanks all
