was going to post in the dealer section but changed my mind as I'll keep the dealers name out .............. for now.

Called a LR dealer, very friendly chap- passed me to another very friendly chap who specialised in RRS agreed what I wanted and he said we will definitly get you a good one so far so good.... agreed he would call within a week to set up test drive and view stock..........................2 weeks later still waiting.....called them and left message..........no return call 4 days later...............

I've found this not just with LR but with a few other luxury items I am currently buying and they are not cheap, seems luxury goods are thriving and the business's dont need to chase your cash and treat a customer like a ................erm customer

TBH pretty much the normal nowadays in my experience.
Lots of companies have cut back on staff due to recession and think this has some effect but most of the time it is just poor cutomer service. more and more it would seem the customer is a problem, rather than the reason they are employed.

Same experience here. 5 dealers didn't get my business. Only two called back (ever), one dealer left me waiting aorund in the showroom for 2 hours!!!! I eventually found a dealer who answered calls, met me at the time arranged and completed a deal in under 45 minutes (including test drive): more fool the others.

It is not just LR. I had the exact same experience when i bought my last car (I mistakenly bought an Audi (bad advice from a bad dealer) - but thats another story..). 2010MY HSE 3.0 TDV6. Stornoway Grey/Ivory. Extended leather, winter pack.

Both Edinburgh dealerships seem to be extremly busy with customers, any telephone queries stay at the bottom of the queue.
I tried for days to get a deal, spoke to the dealer principle and asked him who sold Jeeps locally as I was about to give up on Land Rover after 30+ years.
Had a phone call back within twenty minutes and a deal done by the end of the week.
Still wonder why I bothered, but hopefully it will be worth while.

Not quite the same here.
First dealer, in Luxemburg, gave me the "we have too many customers" song.
Second and third dealer were vey nice and helpful, made offers, which I finally rejected,
favouring a buy in the UK, which is better value.

I experienced the same. The dealer was very keen to start with but seemed to lose interest after I rejected the first two cars he showed me because I didn't like the colour combination. This despite a personal recommendation from a friend who is on his 7th RRS/FFRR from the same dealer as to me not being a timewaster.

Other dealers a little bit further afield would take down details and promise to phone back but never did. I have to say the dealership that sounds like a fish were probably the worst. Even if the car I was interested in was sold, if a new one was listed with close to the same spec on the internet no contact.

Eventually bought mine from an independent Porsche dealership, Autobahn in Coventry, just a mile down the road from a main dealer. Car has balance of Land Rover warranty so buying out of the dealership network held no problems. Great service although the wife did complain about not getting any flowers!
