Iphone connector

Hi guys im kinda new to all this, i dont take delivery of my 56 RRS HSE till sat but ive been having a few options added this week and my dealers came back to me today after telling me a simple cable will allow me to charge/phone and listen to my iphone while on the move wont work with my yr RRS?
she told me the only option is a £250+vat connector/cradle? is this right or am i being turned over for some extra wedge after beating her down 4k on the list price?
Thanks

IIRC if you have the "simple" cable then it plugs into the AUX socket at the back of the centre cubby box, in the rear footwell where the heated rear seat switches are - there is not full connectivity or charging with this. To have full connectivity and be able to charge the iPhone/Pod then you need the full monty iphone bracket/holder and it has to be wired into the audio and is fixed to the dash to the right of the steering wheel. If you search there are postings about the bracket. There are two systems as well as the simple cable - the second one is a cinnector and USB socket that gets wired into the glove box - make sure you get the right one! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I got the "full monty" connector with the USB in the glove box now after 2-1/2 years of use it gets a bit intermittent and won't charge the iPhone but I can charge and playback the iPhone/iPod(32Gb and 80Gb) via the USB in the glove box. There is a limit to the size of "memory" you connect to the USB but I can't remember what it was. Anyway it won't play back MP3 files from a 60Gb external USB powered HDD but will playback from 256Mb memory sticks, when the wife comes back from dropping the grandkids off at school I'll give it a go with a 20Gb HDD and see. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Always worth checking the ipod /iphone connector for pocket dust, as I slip my phone in and out of my pockets all day and sometimes fluff collects in the charge slot - a toothpick soon sorts it out Very Happy
