First days thoughts

Pretty pleased Smile There's a few bit's that I'm not to sure about though

Keyless go. Wife has keys in handbag to enter car. Works perfect.
So you get used to not needing a key in your hand to get in, obviously you
don't need it to get out either. You do need it to lock the car though... Why does it not
"perimiter lock" when the key goes out of range?
Auto-Dip headlights. Maybe it's because I've never had them, think
trusting them to dip will take time! (been flashed twice tonight)
Phone voice control. Why can you not just have a "Base command" "Dial"?
Also you can't assign voice tags to phonebook numbers. i.e. you have to enter
the number to assign the tag. (strange thing is, the system then recognises the
entered number in the phonebook...)
Why doesn't cruise work in dynamic mode?

Sound like I'm moaning but I'm not Smile

Well chuffed with the ride, comfort, performance, appearance and V8 sound Wink

Well I'm very pleased with my TDV8. The Blackberry phonebook doesn't sync with it, so, I'll try an iphone! Any one know if the latest 3 GS on Orange syncs OK? Lovely drive, has so much presence on the road what a great car. I am loving it! Thumbs Up

Cruise doesn't work in Dymanic mode because you ain't supposed to be cruising in Dynamic mode, you are supposed to be driving in a "spirited style" in Dynamic mode, not a relaxed "I'm cruising up the motorway in a relaxed enjoying the passing scenery or posing on the Malaga Corniche or Brighton sea front trying to impress the bimbos from Ilford" style!! Dynamic is for rapid blasts up/down the Stelvio Pass or along the A889/A86 Dalwhinnie to Spean Bridge road in the Scottish Highlands, or even better the unclassified road from Loch Carron to Applecross! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

My first day of 2010MY observations:
Plus points:
1) Great drive. Only the TDV6 but plenty enough for the combination motorway and country road driving done today (300 miles). Better than the 2.7 by quite a margin.
Minus points
1) SatNav is a little weird in places (strange routes selected and hopeless arrival estimation times).. Also some of the detailed guidance is poor.
2) Bluetooth integration to iphone occasionally fails (phone rings on car but occasionaly when answered on car only works for talking through the handset).
3) Phonebook downloading from iPhone is missing large numbers of contacts.
4) Heated windscreeen can be very mildly off-putting at times.
5) The lack of an auto -lock of the vehicle when key goes out of range will take me some time to get used to (my previous car with wireless key had timed auto-lock and I have developed bad habits).
6) The control screen seems a little cumbersome at times. The need to manually retune all the time is somthing that cheaper car manufacturers have resolved.
7) small stone-chip already (guess I will need to read up on what to do about this).
Cool Drivers door seems to need a firmer close than I keep on giving it (it may just be me or perhaps the catch needs adjusting?
9) No apparent integration between steering wheeel telephone controls and screen (but I have yet to RTFM).

You don't need to use the key any differently to lock the car than you would to start or enter the car.
Leave Key in Pocket/handbag etc. You just press the little soft touch button on the outside door handle
and the car locks Thumbs Up Pressing a wee button on the door is no different to pressing the start button
IMHO. Whistle
Perimeter locking would actually be a right royal Pain In the Ass! Imagine loading the car and every time you walked away to get the next case, or whatever you're loading, the damn car kept trying to lock.. nightmare! Rolling Eyes 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I agree with mr Loudly. Other maufacturers have sussed Perimiter locking (a combination of going out of range and a time delay - and it works a treat). Because I am used to perimiter locking on my old car, I have developed some bad habits. I left the car unlocked in Central Milton Keynes for an hour today...... I suppose I will have to adapt.

re: 3) There must be a limit on the number of contacts it can download. I had to delete/move some of my contacts out of my crowded phone book because the RRS only downoaded up through the letter M. Now that I have reduced the # of contacts, it downloads perfectly every time.

re: 4) Yes, the glare on the windscreen at night is annoying. I don't think it is the heating elements though, but something with the automatic windshield wipers??

re: 5) I thought the car would auto lock after a certain period of time, no? In any event, not too hard to touch the soft button on the door handle.

Cheers.

Re iPhone phone book downloading...

On the iPhone, go into settings / general / bluetooth / click on the little blue arrow on the right of the Land Rover text.

There you can select what will sync with the car.... You can select wich group of contacts, only favorites..... Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

Mine won't just sync fave's.
I have to have "sync contacts" on, which then allows "phone favourites" to sync as well.
I can't just turn on "sync faourites" Crying or Very sad
