Second hand RRS 07

Guys, need some valuable input please as I don't know enough about the RRS apart from I want one and they are expensive. Not having much cash can you advise on an 07 plate what to go for? what to avoid and look out for?
My local garage owner said to avoid them and get an X5 as RRS has LOADS of ongoing problems and it will never be out of here (his garage)

apologies for so many questions but I dont want to buy (imminent) and come here to find everyone saying "oooooh you should have avoided the blah blah year and watched out for blah blah"

Thanks for any help Clones are people two

Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

He has obviously never owned an X5 then............I unfortunately have and believe me it was in the garage more than it was on the road...........all makes have lemons, its life.

Next time he says it to you, kick him in the B Censored s and tell him you prefer the masculine RRS. Mr. Green

Plenty of info on here with regards issues, nothing major, mostly niggles. L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver

Of course if you want sport power and driving exp then everyone will point you at a Supercharged - if you want grunt and performance then they will point you at a TDV8 - but if money is an issue then go for a TDV6. I agree it's not the quickest off the mark, but even without any remapping it's still very good. In fact much better than the spec says it should be.

If you do remap, the one of our site sponsors BAS has the perfect solution and appears very safe to use, even on an older RRS.

Remember also that a TDV6 will give you much better economy too and a better longer term resale than a SC.

Finally, go for a HSE rather than an SE. If you don't you'll spend half of your time on here asking how to upgrade the boring bits to make it more fun Thumbs Up

This is my first RRS and I'm hooked - yes it has its issues, but then most cars do - but few have so many keen, knowledgable and willing followers as on here - that's enough of a reason to get one Bow down

Good luck and welcome

thanks for the quick replies. Yes cash is an option so a TDV6 (2.7 right?) sounds right, is an 07 ok or was there major changes like BMWX5 did from 06 to 07? It will be from a stealer so any advice on what to look for or price would be greatfully recieved. Clones are people two

Range Rover anyday. Have owned M3/5 & 6 although, in fairness, not BMW 4x4 - However, when BMW try and tell you 'it's the sporty suspension Sir' when in fact the ride is pants on UK roads - the RRS SC gives you the ride and performance.
And....I hate the smugness and the way that BMW sleazepersons look you up and down.
There. Got that off my chest.
Cherokee111 - make sure that you get an extended warranty (Land Rover one) and then sit back and enjoy your RRS. I have a 2005 SC and bar the usual technical issues, posted on this forum, it shouldn't cost you anything aprt from the occasional visit to the dealer. So good that I am going for another one.

.....lest us not forget that WE are in the Range Rovers...........at no time EVER could a BMW ever look us up and down.....instead we just look down from our lofty heights.........occassionally dropping down to their level with our air suspension. Welocme to our forum Cherokee

For a 2.7 TDV6 HSE 07 then you are looking at low £30k's / high £20k's with 2007 you will be right at the end of the LR Factory warranty and a 2007/08 should have most of the niggles ironed out by now. I have an Oct 2007 TDv8 which the guides value at £33000 which replaced a 2005 2.7SE. If you can afford it then the TDV8 is the one to go for. Fuel consumption is high 20's for both 2.7V6 and 3.6V8 but you get more toys (and headaches!)for your money with the V8 HSE. With both cars it is essential you have a test drive and make sure that you drive it on a rough (as in a main road after a hard winter, not a rough farm lane!) and listen for suspension rattles. If you hear them then the fix isn't drastic - it is worn suspension bushes - and a 2007 TDv6 car MUST have the optional hydraulic Dynamic Response to suffer from it, all TDv8's have the system as do all supercharged models.
Also watch out for wheels............................... while they can take bigger than 20" wheel no RRS ever left the factory with bigger and the car is not engineered to run on bigger, but it will. There are plenty of posts about wheel size!
I would also concur with the advice above and get a Land Rover approved used one, that way you have some reassurance that it might have at least had any TSB's and recalls done and been serviced by somebody who knows about these very complex cars 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

well...luck of the draw. I have a mate with an 06TDV RRS and he has honestly never had a problem with it. He keeps trying to think of something each time it goes into the dealer for the service.
It's totally a personal opinion - I would only buy from a dealer. Ok, we pay more - but having that 'security' means more to me than going back to the bunting bod.
I have noticed a big change in attitude of the Dealers. I think they all got very hungry last year and now realise what aftersales and customer service actually means. The dealership I bought my SC from went into receivership. They formed a management regroup and what a difference it makes when you phone them now. Now that it is THEIR mortgages at stake.

Tim in Scotland - spot on.
Just one thing Cherokee - there are two warranties. Go for the Extended one. It's unlimited claim\s against any one problem. Valid for cars up to six years old and 60,000 miles. The approved warranty has lots of limits and max claim £3000. Extended is £995 after car is three years old. You renew it each year and can pay monthly at no extra cost. Believe me, it's worth it - I have just had the SC back having had all of the knocking suspension issues resolved. Tail gate dampers replaced. Car in dealership for one week. All handed back over spotless and not one pence paid.
Happy driving and belated welcome to forum. Thumbs Up

Cherokee, living in/ near to Edinburgh you have a selection of dealers - Pentland, Morrison's Stirling, one over the Forth Bridge in Fife and 2 in Glasgow. Suggest you take a look at the Land Rover Website and look at the used car listings on that - there are something like 550 used RRS around the UK as of this morning, there will be at least one that meets your requirements. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

OK got to put my ten pence worth in here.

I have just changed from an 06 Msport X5 into a 2.7 TDV6 RRS HSE and if anyone gives you the usual b Censored locks about the X5 being a better road car with no mechanical issues they're talking rubbish. I spent thousands keeping the X5 on the road. The electrics were a nitemare, TV never worked, bluetooth packed up within a month and never got fixed properly, sat nav screen only came on as and when it felt like it and the thing eat its way through two sets of tyres, two sets of pads and one set of discs in 18 months.

Since buying the RRS I have luxuriated in the comfort, road presence and overall feel and would recommend it to anyone. I bought the car from an enthusist on autotrader who was completely honest and gave me a good deal part ex. I didnt bother with the warrenty as in my experience when a car is three years old there are so many aftermarket parts and independent specialist who can fit them at a fraction of the dealer price that its not worth paying for an extended warrenty.

Since buying the car I have fixed the knocking suspension £120, had the car remapped £235, fitted a full overfinch exhaust system £299 and had the interior re worket in two tone leather £2,000. So I now have an 06 RRS that looks the Censored , goes like a rocked and drives like a dream all for under £30k

My advice (For what its worth) Have a look around and dont pay more than £27k for a low mileage late 06 or early 07 2.7TDV6 HSE then spend the remaining £3k on making it your own. He Who Dies With The Most Toys Wins

19" unless it has the Dynamic Response fitted (all HSE's from 2008MY on) then it will have the Supercharged 20" style
Pre 2008MY (that is before October 2007) 2.7TDV6s have this style

but many have put the S/C style 10 spoke wheels on or Disco3 wheels
