Todays purchase !!!!

Flew up to Scotland earlier to give a RRS I had put a deposit down on in the week the once over.

Few niggles that need ironing out pre collections but I think I got a cracking deal, and am happy with it in general.

Its a 2006 (55), 2.7 HSE, Indigo Black, with a biege/caramel leather. Its got everything I was after in terms of spec and more. 60k on the clock and i've picked it up for £22k (was on for £24999) !

Have found this forum useful in the past few weeks, so thanks to all for your help along the way.

Carrying on with that a couple of things :

* Indigo black does not seem common - anyone know anything about this colour ? Looks fine to me, and happy with the colour which is the main thing but just wondered why there aren't many of these about ?

* Car has side steps fitted - alliminium with a black plastic step. These aren't in the best condition and have some wear along the metal part. I have asked the dealer to get the finish on these back in good shape, and they are going to see what the alloy man can do when he comes to refurb the wheels. Does anyone have any experience on this or any comments that might help ?????

* Car has S/C vents, and grill but also has the SC Badge on the bag which I will be losing. Have found lots of companies that do chrome badges & lettering but want to order the normal HSE lettering to send to the dealer in the next few days to fit. Does anyone have a link or a tel number where i can find these ? or is ordering from LR best option - sure either way its not going to be mega £££

* The car is due to have its 60k Service pre collection which I know is a big one. I remember some advise on here about the 60k service and was hoping someone could provide me with the proper LR checklist of what should be done ? Also is there anything big in terms of part replacement on this service (ie. CAM Belts etc....) ?

Apologies that for any of these reposts but I am due in to hospital for an op tomorrow am and dont have hours available to sift through pages on here looking for answers to the above.

Any guidance and tips from above from those ITK would be much appreciated.

Cheers
New Proud Owner (or will be when I get the above sorted !)

2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver

Sounds like you bagged a good deal, if the 60K service is included and LR dealer Thumbs Up

Here's the service checklist - http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/us...0miles.pdf

Agree that you need to badge correctly, you must use original spec LR badges, there are a few places on Ebay - get OEM one's only though - many posts tacky alternatives!

That's all I can help with, sure the guys will fill in the blanks soon.

Good luck with the car and more so with your op tomorrow Thumbs Up

Thanks - that document was exactly what I needed re. service !

Its not from a LR dealer but a group which has LR within it. Mixed reviews and experiences with Stratstone on here I see, and am taking minor risk on that front I suppose. Everything else stacked up though, and did pick it up for cracking price IMO.

Cheers again and will await further feedback.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

1) No such land Rover colour as Indigo Black! For RRS it is either Java Black or Santorini, a 2005 car will be Java and you can check by opening the bonnet and looking on the VIN plate ontop of the radiator which will give the colour name and paint code below the VIN number, it looks like this

2) If the dealer isn't a franchised Land Rover dealer then tell them to get it serviced at the local franchised dealer and to get all the TSB's done and recalls put right or you won't take it. If they are a Land Rover dealer then still get them to do it - Land Rovers are extremely complex cars and need properly trained techs to look after them, not the "under the arches" change your oil and check the tyres merchant.
30 Badging is dead easy to DIY with a hair dryer and some thin fishing line to remove old ones and then the new ones are self adhesive. Buy them from an LR dealer - some of them have e-bay stores too but the accessories department of Lookers Park Royal, Rocar Moores or DCC 4x4 all of them sponsor the forum so you might even get some discount!
3) Vents are a piece of cake to change too, but they also look better than the plain grey ones (unless what you have are HST vents which are chromed)
4) The leather you have is Alpacca by the sound of it 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

The cracking 'deal' is more related to the money I got for my wifes old freelander, coupled with a reduction off the RRS also. Was up for the right money at £25k and got this down enroute.

Don't think it's gonna be a cut and shut from Stratstones, and the fact it has 100% LR Glasgow servicing probably helps.

Cheers anyway.

Cheers Tim - good points well made. I'll keep you posted what they come back with on the colour front as am confused by this at present I must admit ! Does the colour Indigo exist out of interest ???

yeah apologies for that Marty - my response was a bit alarmist.
Sunday night - glass of wine!

Just for your info - I bought a 55 plate RRS SC with 21000 in Dec 2009. One Owner - he bought again from the same dealer and I spoke to him. It came from the authorised dealer with everything - tyre insurance/short gap/serviced/extended warranty/new tyres and a bunch of flowers for the missus.
I paid sub £25k. Now I guess that prices have not gone up.

Thumbs Up Not sure what the SC prices are like but have been monitoring the Diesels for a while and this one seemed at the right money and as I say, the deal came together well ! That said the tight b*stards have not mentioned buying any flowers for the wife, so will get on the case tomorrow !

Absolutely - at the end of the day Im buying a 4 year old motor and there is risk attached. Im not precious about my cars though and don't know that much about them, so just hope all goes well. Got an 18 month warranty from the dealer so will be covered at LR for anything major that goes in that time.

Can't wait to get it really and just getting the last minute jitters that come with anything when parting with dosh !

Yes it does, However not on a RRS it does't

Indigo the colour

INDIGO relates to the BROW chakra or third eye which is in the centre of the forehead The related organs to this chakra are the eyes, lower head and sinuses and the endocrine gland is the pituitary gland.

Indigo relates to self responsibility, that is to say, being responsible for one's own life; responsibility to oneself to follow the soul's path and needs and trusting one's own intuition. The ability to see things from a 'higher' viewpoint rather than purely for satisfaction of the ego or one's material comfort. Intuitive messages are unique to you and are for your own personal growth and differ from the gut feelings.

Any questions just fire away, I'm here to help Thumbs Up

Tim - I got confirmation earlier that the colour is in fact Java black as per your instructions on the radiator badge Thumbs Up

Just the service hurdle to iron out and I will be recieving the motor within the next week or so.

Anyone have any comments on the side step wear on the metal. Looked on LR and they look the same as the genuine ones so just wondered if there is anyway to make good the metal piece ?

Not sure why or where they got indigo black....and wiki thanks for your comments - to say I have learned a new thing today is an understatement Rolling with laughter
