Showroom Tax!

Some of you may be aware of the new 1st year Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) that will be chargeable on all new vehicles from 1st April. I thought that it would be helpful to provide some examples of what Land Rover expect the charges to be, and how they differ from the existing Road Fund Licence levels.

Please note that this replaces the normal road tax for the first year only and is not on top of road tax. To be fair it's not quite as painful as I expected it to be when it was announced in the budget.

Please note that the above is for indication purposes only, until an official announcement is made.

This must've passed me by James... will it be included in the price of a new car or as a separate payment? Confused

Same as current road tax charged on a new vehicle. Therefore a Range Rover Sport 5.0 Supercharged registered in March will attract £405 road tax in the first year, whereas in April the same car will increase by £545 to £950 for the first year.

Unfortunately this will affect list prices, however some manufacturers may choose to absorb the increase. At the end of the day the 'on the road' price will include this, however the 'on the road' price will be proportionally higher from April.

We have a large number of customers crossing their fingers that we can register and deliver their cars before the end of March.

Isn't that a play on words Tim?? Its always been Road Fund License until the B Censored s changed it to Car Tax a year or so after they got elected!!
