Welcome to the forums, the extra cost of running a tdv8 over a tdv6 is minimal, the fun factor of the tdv8 is so much more than the tdv6. It isn't the speed that the TDv8 gets there it's the way it does it - effortlessly and with a roar rather than a whosh of two turbos. A used Supercharged would be more suitable after an RS though if you can afford the fuel.

Tim I thought the new TDV6 was supposed to be much more economical than the TDV8 on average by about 10-15 miles to every gallon..that would make a big difference if you were doing say 20,000 miles per annum.

Having said all that I originally had a MY2010 TDV6 ordered and have now changed that to a TDV8 just because there is so much more you can do to a V8 in terms of power upgrades and I suppose performance rather than economy has always been my priority when buying a new car Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Seriously though - if the extra 4k isn't going to kill you I think it's worth it. Either way you'll be happy! Thumbs Up

The little voice was actually screaming at me, "buy the 8, buy the 8".

......so I have. Ordered it this afternoon Thumbs Up

SPEC:
Colour - Metallic Stornoway Grey
Upholstery - Premium leather, Ebony/Ebony
Premium ICE Pack: harman/kardon Logic 7
Heated steering wheel
iPod connectivity lead
Hybrid TV
Interior trim - Grand Black Lacquer
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
Surround camera system
Extended Leather Pack
Park heating with remote control
Premium carpet mats
Contrast stitching
Privacy glass to rear of B post

Apparently the dealer will contact me in the morning to confirm spec and take their deposit, which I'll be paying by Visa (just in case like!)

I know. I think I'll only believe it when the dealer rings to ask for the deposit.

Having said that, I have spoken to someone else who's used them for a different vehicle and saved even more money.

I'm hoping that the link to Top Gear magazine means they're kosher.

Still wondering whether I should have gone for Bali blue though??

2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver

Diesel - great spec - don't change the colour.

As they say, if you pay too much for something that you really want then the most you will suffer is the difference from what you expected to pay. Whereas if you pay less for something you really end up not wanting, you suffer the whole ammount.

I almost made this mistake on a new Porsche I bought, almost went for the 2.7 instead of the 3.2 because everyone (inc Topgear) said the 2.7 was a better value for money etc etc and the 2.7 had bags of performance anyway. I chose the 3.2 and loved every minute of it (well not quite true, the night I got stopped on the M5 and lost my licence wasn't too great Embarassed )

Buy with your heart or buy a Prius for economy, Volvo for safety or Freelander 1 for a laugh!

Aint that the truth. Gonna lose 3k on the RS for 12 weeks ownership of which the car has only been used for 3.

The discount on the new one is helping to ease the pain Smile
